Reminds me of those early days xbox/ps3 games where they were just shovelware by nobody devs.
Except this is one of the largest and most qualified game developer in the world.
With one of the largest publishers in the world.
Sub-published by a mega-corporation.
That places 53rd on the Fortune 500.

It isn't as bad as this video makes it out to be, I played through it twice. He's cherry picking and focusing on things you wouldn't normally notice.
He's doing it for humour.

Back then, the big companies didn't deliberately rush development and go for the cheapest developer. They didn't know that it was more profitable to do it this way and risk suffering a small loss of profits, rather than actually make a good, well developed game and risk losing more.
The power of popular branding. Though I'd argue EA's brand is getting worse and worse.

The AI and Spawns are really bad tho, and it's still on the "unnaceptable" level really.
-snip because rude-
Have an actual retort to his point or are you just here to ad hominem it up?
Its not like Tuskin said this exact same "I havent experienced these bugs and also this video is making a big deal out of nothing" comment before on a Battlefront video.
Wait.
I haven't had any of the obvious bugs in this video.
I'm sure the ones where he had to zoom in to actually show us happening might have happened, but those are out of the away that most people won't even notice.
Nevermind.

Mate if you're gonna accuse someone of fallacies, get them right. I would also not advise you not do that ever in any general conversation because it's obnoxious.

DICE didn't actually make the SP, it was handed to Motive Studios. Battlefront 2's SP was the first thing they worked on
I think that Tuskin is probably right to an extent that if you aren't deliberately looking for bugs to use for comedic effect you'll probably run into or at least notice a lot less weird shit, but the AI especially still doesn't look particularly good and they just had to go for the obvious rebel defection campaign, didn't they?
nothing to write home about.
Watching this makes me appreciate the Left 4 Dead series more, spawning enemies in is way more noticeable in first person and they hide it well in those games.

Is it hard to accept that EA could have done a better job with BF2 in arguably almost every regard? That is to say, sure, maybe it's not the worst thing ever, but it could have been a lot better?
I wish that I could just spend like $15 and just fart around on the Salt planet for some hours. It just looks so cool

The 2 main people at Motive are not newbies either.
Kim Swift of Nubecular Drop ( Portal ) fame
Jade Raymond as a known producer for the Assassin's Creed series.
These are actual industry veterans making a Star Wars campaign, and this is the messy result.
EA just slapped this campaign on as an obligation, likely because one of the main actors for The Force Awakens actually had a desire for a story of sorts.

Still not seeing any actual points here.
Just because he said somewhere else that he didn't experience bugs doesn't make what he said any less valid.
I've never experienced these bugs either. That's not saying they don't exist. It's just worth noting that they're not as common as videos like this make them out to be.

"It isn't as bad" inherently still means it's bad y'know :v:
This kinda shit shouldn't fly for a big game made by a bunch of people who call themselves professionals who have the funding to do good work.
This is acceptable from a smaller studio, but AAA titles shouldn't have garbage like this. You can argue against this 'till the heat death of the universe, but when you have companies as big as these have glaring mistakes like these in a full priced product it's incredibly jarring and I have no respect for anybody who defends it. It's sloppy work, plain and simple
This, however, is completely fair and agreeable. Well said.
edit: too late for the automerge sorry
Usually I don't like these kind of highlight reel videos as I'm not sure whether or not they're an example of what to expect, however in this case, I really don't give a shit, Battlefront 2 is a fucking joke by this point.
[editline]19th December 2017[/editline]
They come out with the crap excuse that we can't make a character you'd care about if you're on the bad guy's side, I disagree, they're just incapable of making a character to give a shit about because they're shite at character development and telling a good story, so they fall back on the switching sides bollocks to make it easier.
When Jango Fett got rekt, that was like, "Oh damn, Mace, I like you but come on man, dat Bounty Hunter was cool 'n' shit."
Like, if you look at The Force Unleashed, the only reason why Galen Marek switch sides because Darth Vader fucked him up at one point which made Galen be like, fuck this guy, whereas in Battlefront 2 it's them fucking up a planet that's loyal to the Empire/First Order, which makes absolutely no fucking sense, it's a good reason to question the Emperor's orders, yes, I too would be like, "Whoa whoa whoa, what dafuq man, you go after these planets because the Rebel Alliance are allied with them or are there, why the fuck you going for our people?" It makes absolutely no sense and just shows they can't write a story worth shit anymore.
Oh and that's ignoring the fact that the Rebel Alliance just welcomes Inferno Squad so easily and act like best buds making jokes and saying we need people like you, what? People who the previous week would fucking slaughter everyone in the same room you're in now, but because the Emperor got dementia and targeted the wrong planet, that's why I'm fighting with you good guys now lol.
Massively wasted potential for a campaign because they're focused on making money over making a good game, wasted potential for a good GAME.
Fuck EA.

Also Tuskin just stop already.
here you go again...
Gotta be honest, I too played through it and didn't notice any serious problems. You can, in fact, break a lot of games by doing various things, it doesn't mean a whole lot.
Yea Tuskin's not wrong. I played through this on xbox and had no major bugs or issues. They were fun little campaign missions.
Goes hand in hand with the movie.
I have no faith in the future of Star Wars while EA has the rights.
I sometimes noticed wonky AI behavior in my playthrough but nothing too distracting. The bigger issue is that the campaign isn't very engaging anyway.
It felt like it was optimized by 2 year olds, as opposed to the 5 year olds that optimized the rest of the game performance wise
The editing in this video is atrocious
Oh man, can't believe I'm seeing this.
I really wanted this game to succeed, but alas that thought was too good to be true. I just want to relieve my Battlefront II memories as a child on a new game with a functioning online netcode and immersive graphics, but it's too much to ask for.
Me too.
It is sad that EA literally have the perfect recipe for a Battlefront game right in front of them.
Remake it completely, add some sequel trilogy shit and release it = profit and happy fans.
for the player to be able to create these visual and ai bugs, even if nitpicking, it means that it is present in the ptoduct wheres it probably went thru playtesting and they were not bothered to fix it.
iI'd dismiss these if these were caused by poor performance on the player's side, but you beng able to stand below a a dropship and clip through it, or the soldier's spawning in that firefight is just poor development - no excuses. the AI alone is stupid enough to be fooled around and ruin anyone experience.

Calling it poor development would be misleading. See, the way games are tested is that testers document a whole lot of bugs and imperfections and developers choose which ones to fix and which ones to leave based on their time and resources. I guarantee that almost every game was released with bugs the developers knew about, as they focus on the bugs that break the game or prevent progress.
In this case I don't doubt the developers' skill, since the parts that do work appear to work excellently. What probably happened was that they weren't given enough time to polish.
