Taiwanese smartphone firm HTC has fired a fresh salvo in its continuing war with Apple over patent infringement. HTC has used patents it bought from Google last week to lodge a fresh complaint against Apple with the US International Trade Commission (ITC). It has alleged that Apple's computers and mobile devices infringe patents involving wi-fi capability and processor communication technology. This is the third complaint that HTC has filed against Apple. "We are taking this action against Apple to protect our intellectual property, our industry partners, and most importantly our customers that use HTC phones," said Grace Lei, general counsel of HTC.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14832762
This will take a big bite of Apple.
This shit needs to end now.
Oh Apple, this is why you don't start suing people with no legitimate fucking basis, because you're going to get sued right the fuck back and ganged up on.
Slap apple across the face like a spoiled child.
Wow, they bought patents for no other reason than to immediately turn around and sue with them?
Oh man, copyright laws have become such abused creatures over this decade or two. What the fuck has happened to the original objective of these things? They've become literal business weapons.
It has alleged that Apple's computers and mobile devices infringe patents involving wi-fi capability
There's a patent for wi-fi capability on a smartphone?
If only the suit was to stop all devices being sold in the US.....
There's a patent for wi-fi capability on a smartphone?
From what I know, patents can't cover something that indiscriminate. I'm sure it's a specific technology or whatnot.
There's a patent for wi-fi capability on a smartphone?
Apple sued over their patent, which is a glass rectangle with round edges. If Apple can get away with that HTC can get away with THAT.
Guys do you remember when phone companies used to have healthy competition by besting each other and constantly challenging one another? now it's just them taking turns to kick the other in the groin
Wow, they bought patents for no other reason than to immediately turn around and sue with them?
This is called Google trying to help against a patent troll. I hope that the combined legal power of Google and all of the companies that manufacture Android devices manage to beat Apple in the end, this is getting fucking stupid. Hopefully the US patent system will be fixed as well. HTC have come out and said that Apple cannot compete and has to sue their way out of competition.
Apple is ran by pure fear and paranoid that they'll not the the very best, and now its screwing them, massively.
Apple sued over their patent, which is a glass rectangle with round edges. If Apple can get away with that HTC can get away with THAT.
Pretty much. Patents should never have been granted for generic shit like "Black glass slab with round edges and general rectangular shape."
Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony Ericsson, Phillips, Nokia and Motorola should all gang up on Apple and use their wits to sue Apple into bankruptcy.
Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony Ericsson, Phillips, Nokia and Motorola should all gang up on Apple and use their wits to sue Apple into bankruptcy.
They pretty much are, but individually. I bet if all of the companies that Apple are suing launched a massive law suit Apple would back down.
About time somebody sued Apple for stealing, however I'm p sure that apple will counter-sue them. Also, HTC Desire present.
I wish all phone companies would get together and sue the fuck out of Apple across all countries the devices were sold in. A few thousand patent infringements in one go would be fucking amazing.
They pretty much are, but individually. I bet if all of the companies that Apple are suing launched a massive law suit Apple would back down.
Then Apple would cry about it and the lawsuit would be dismissed.
Then Apple would cry about it and the lawsuit would be dismissed.
Not if they were all legitimate claims, oh unlike the ones Apple were making.
okay, now this is getting outa hand, this is just reduculus. this is going to end up in Business textbooks
this is going to end up in Economics schoolbooks, watch.
