Markiplier makes a heartfelt video to his subscribers

Some of you might not like this guy. You might think he's loud, obnoxious and PewDiePie 2.0.
But these vlogs he make when he reaches a milestone, and this one in particular (especially 5 minutes in) really is a lovely insight to who he is as a person.
I dunno, I know you guys probably don't like his content, but this was just a really heartfelt video and I thought it was really nice.

None of these Let's Players that make it big are assholes. They all do what they do because of their fanbase, which is 90% younger than most of us that complain. Like their videos or not, it's not everyone's preference of humor that's for sure, but you can't deny that the person behind those videos isn't actually a piece of shit. Pewdiepie included.
Markiplier isn't that bad to be honest.
I watched his Alien:Isolation playthrough and to my surprise the guy knows quite some of his stuff around games and movies and has some interesting filler instead of what PewDiePie does which is just nonsensical gibberish compared.

idk about the fanbase part. I remember hearing egoraptor saying that he only makes game grumps videos for the money on a podcast somewhere. Regardless I don't see a lot of big lets players that are assholes so that's awesome.
ive never really watched this guy's videos but he seems like a super nice person.
Mad respect to this guy. I might not enjoy his style of videos, but I love his cameos and he's just an all around great guy. Would love to meet him someday.
I'm subscribed to him, don't really watch the horror games/stuff where he screams a lot but he can be a very good Lets-Player when he wants to.
I'm not used to seeing Mark like that, he is so happy and energetic in his videos that this is making me just sad
Totally can't stand this guy but he seems to be a nice person in real life I guess. He was in a video with JonTron and a few others once and while everyone was acting like a normal enough person he was just screaming and flipping out the whole time, he really didn't fit in with the other people he was playing with
Man has a goddamn voice of gold

Yeah, Arin is one of the only Let's Players in the entire community that I can't stand. Not only is he incredibly stupid (Even outside of just Let's play stuff) but really, really rude and standoffish from what I've seen on his Twitter. Every other member of the GG crew is much better.

Jon best grump

Shame he uses it to scream over videogames.
He's an excellent LPer when it comes to things like indie horror games and other lesser known stuff, though it's kinda disappointing he's banking off the Five Nights at Freddies bandwagon.

When I heard him in the TF2 episode of DYKG, I did like a double-take, it was amazing hearing him actually calm. He should do more stuff like that.

To be fair I think he's the one who started that bandwagon, or at least popularized it unintentionally :v:
what I like about him is he shuts up when he needs to shut up like in his Last of Us playthrough where you can really see him just taking the game in instead of blurting out nonsense just to break the silence.
and in his Amnesia: Machine for pigs playthrough he actually takes like 10 minutes after the game to talk about what he liked and disliked about the game and he really knows what he's talking about.
I wouldn't really mind these LPers that much if they didn't have to use some of the most obnoxious video titles and thumbnails ever (for their actual Let's Plays anyway, at least he actually turned off caps lock for this one).

Pretty much this. If his videos didn't pander to 12 year olds and he had a good sense of humor, i'd like his videos then.
I like Markiplier himself, I think he's a great person but his content is annoying.

honestly wouldnt surprise me, egoraptor has lost his soul

i think game grumps spoiled him tbh, he didn't seem to be this much of an asshole a few years ago
I could watch his videos just to listen to that voice goddamn.
All I've seen of this guy, really, was his FNAF videos, and I started badmouthing him because all I wanted was a preview of what the game was like. I thought he was another obnoxious screamvideo manchild that was just there to make money off of his videos by pandering to the LCD.
And then I see this. I was wrong. Dead wrong, as it were, and I'm glad I was.
This is the kind of video that needs to go viral for these guys - there's so much negativity on this fucking planet that it turns people like me into cynics that think ever single popular person on this planet is an asshole feeding off of the wants of others. God bless him, and people like him. Using your popularity to reach out to people and show love, caring, respect, and humility... That's what we need right now.
I was smiling while he was going on, but when he started giving love to his fans that have passed on, tears. It was just so unreal and unexpected.
Markiplier makes videos like this quite often actually. He makes like almost monthly videos thanking his audience. Really sweet of him but I think he got the message across a while back.
He's actually the one Lets Player that I watch. Everybody else is crap. His voice is super sweet and maybe a little exaggerated for the videos or maybe that's just how it sounds when he raises his voice. Regardless I like listening to him, he's a nice guy, and he loves what he does.

You might like JackSepticEye. He's another guy that has a lot of genuineness to him.

The thing is, I honestly cant think of a single time where Pewdiepie EVER did anything assholish. Ive seen a few comments hes made, shit like "cant hear you over my subscribers :)" He isnt some huge asshole, he doesnt push stupid agenda shit, he actually gives more niche and unknown games a shitload of advertising, came from 4chan/v/, and made it to the top. Hes a guy who plays video games on youtube essentially for younger kids.
The most offensive thing pewdiepie does is be annoying to watch. But thats obviously personal and clearly a minority. But he also gets kids into lots of forms of gaming.
Seriously I had some kid at my house cause his mom was visiting mine or something so I let him play some games. From pewdiepie alone he knew and played so many of the games I already own, and played a bunch of more niche mods and rpgmaker shit. I was pretty blown away that a 12 year old kid already had better and wider taste in games than most, pretty much solely thanks to pewdiepie.
Only thing I hate about most of these top lets players is usually the stupid showy stuff they always just gotta put on for their fans. Over-reactions and shit like that.
I'm not a fan of his let's play videos, but some of his non-let's plays are great.

I don't really watch any game grumps or egoraptor so I don't really have any opinions on who they are or the content they produce, but honestly I want to know: Is doing it for the money really that bad? Seriously I would like everyone's opinions on this.
I mean doing it for the money doesn't necessarily mean they are doing it any worse or less passionately. If someone is doing something as a living, I fully expect them to have making money on their minds at least on some level. Maybe it is not the only reason to do things for, but I wouldn't judge someone on simply their words on what their reasons for doing a job is.
Now, obviously this being entertainment, I would like the person to be entertaining and passionate about what he is doing. So if any of these suffer because he is simply focusing on making more money I would just take my viewership somewhere else.
Markiplier had got to be my favorite when it comes to watching Let's Plays, even as a person he has a sincerity to him that many others lack. He does charity live streams as much as he can and during that he tries his hardest to interact with his fans.
Some may be turned off by his sometimes obnoxious sense of humor and hey that's cool there are tons of other who are quite a bit more tame. But to be honest I relate to his style of gaming much more than others, I am 23 years old but I still laugh like a schoolgirl and get obnoxious when I am playing intense games. We can't take ourselves seriously 24/7, it's not healthy in my opinion.
I don't think these type of Lets Players and youtubers have the target demographic for adults, thats why most of them change the most famous they get. They because loud, very energetic and random for their viewers, because in reality Pediepie and Markipliers viewers are all mainly young kids or children.
We constantly keep saying to people "Why the hell do kids keep watching people play games instead of playing them?". South park hit it on the head about lets players in the sense that these people have found a way to communicate with the younger generation and provide them entertainment and even some kind of friendship along the way. Good on em' I say, even though I don't watch the videos, what they're doin is great
Holy shit man, that hit home. 5:00 really tugged on the heart strings.
