http://techcrunch.com/2013/12/31/google-to-close-bump-and-flock-its-recently-acquired-file-sharing-apps/
Bump and Flock, the file sharing apps Google acquired last fall, will be shut down by the end of this month. Both apps will stop working and be removed from Google Play and the App Store on January 31, Bump confirmed on its blog today. Google bought Bump Technologies, which make both apps, back in September, and Android Police reports that work on the app appeared to stop shortly after the acquisition.
who and who?
darn, bump was useful as hell
Why buy something and just shut it down later? Even if it's not popular, this angers me. I still play Flight Simulator X and FlatOut 2, which USED to have Gamespy MP servers. Yet now, they're both shut down. Is it that hard to keep a few servers running? I mean, damn.
RIP We hardly knew ye. Seriously, we literally hardly knew ye.
Bump and Dump
darn, bump was useful as hell
What was so hard about BTing a file or emailing (unless you had an iPhone back in the day)?
What was so hard about BTing a file or emailing (unless you had an iPhone back in the day)?
still useful for iPhone to Android sharing tbh
still useful for iPhone to Android sharing tbh
Get BTSync. It does that (on iPhone too afaik) and also is a better replacement for Dropbox. It doesn't need a server.
Fuck you google
google sucks
Get BTSync. It does that (on iPhone too afaik) and also is a better replacement for Dropbox. I still don't get why Apple decided that sharing files via Bluetooth is "OH SO bad", yeah shit's slow, but with every other phone with bluetooth is supporting that, it honestly screams of Apple trying to be different yet again "just because". Even my Ancient Sony Ericsson phone supports it.

They try to be visionary and promote new technology (typically their proprietary technology albeit), and offering support for old and obsolete tech is counterproductive to their goal. That's why they never offered up a BD drive, and that's why they completely ousted drives from rMBPs. I'm not saying they're all good for it but to chock it up to "just because" is pretty much wrong.

The amount of hassle their denial of Bluetooth filetransfer has caused means that whoever thought that up as a bright idea DESERVES to have rotting horsecocks showed into every orifice with no lube. Function -> form, everything else it fucking retarded no excuses.
This is why you don't sell a service to a larger company with s similar service, because you know they're only interested in shutting it down. Why don't people seem to understand that.
Looks like Bump got the bump from Google.
