Hello FP!
I'm still really new to graphic design, but I figured I'd learn by experimenting and this is one of my first creations. It's a custom loading splash that shows when you launch Modern Warfare 2 for the PC.

I didn't draw the chibi character as I'm a terrible at drawing people, but everything else I just sort of experimented with and came up with. I added the smoke to the gun, the text was me playing around with a few filters and the bullet holes are from a brush pack. The artist who drew the original character is rongs1234 from DeviantArt (http://rongs1234.deviantart.com) and all credit for that drawing goes to him.
Like I said, I'm still learning, so it probably isn't perfect and needs some work. Please give me some constructive criticism and suggestions so I can improve and produce better work, and tell me what you think of the current presentation! Also, feel free to use this splash image if you like it. Thanks, and enjoy.
Next time draw your own whole thingie.. Won't hurt.
Other than that, pretty nice.
Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, I am a terrible artist, I'd really need a ton of practice before I did that. Maybe I'll start doodling and slowly get better. ;3
Know what helps against being terrible?
Practise and a few tutorials.
This one is p.cool. I'd use it if you had made it all yourself.
I've given the artist of the chibi character full credit, so it's not like I'm stealing his work. I think I will try and draw a bit more. Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep trying and experimenting. :D

It's like taking a piece of someone's work and adding more to it. In my eyes it's not art anymore.
Unless you draw some cool shit together.
Well I didn't really look at this as art, more of an experiment/creation. I just wanted to see what I could do and learn more about Photoshop while I did it. Anyways, thanks for the feedback!
Well then, the text looks too blurry, compared to the sharp character drawing.

Yeah, that was my fault, I was experimenting with filters and forgot to change for final export.
And from now on, think wether it's thread worthy or not before posting.
Isn't that sort of opinion-ized? I was pretty proud of it. ;[

You have very low standards then.
It's a good start ;) don't give up and always raise the bar, try something harder next time. Learn some basic composition rules so it doesn't look to clustered.

The artist should be the best judge of his work. It's important to understand the quality of your own work.

It's an unwritten rule that experiments(unless they took weeks to do or some shit and/or include black holes/velociraptors/the LHC/lasers/advanced-/metaphysics/science/magnets/ferrofluids or any combination of the beforementioned) and first works should never be posted. Atleast not in a separate thread.
I am pretty proud of my work as well, but I find it easier to post in the general artwork thread rather than make a thread that no-one replies to twice a day.

Actually artists mostly can't judge for shit. almost always a 3rd party or a slap to the face is required before the said artist can see what he is doing wrong.

They'll never get a job that way.
You'd be suprised.
I can't call this art. All you did was take someones elses artwork, added a few photoshop filters, and that's it. I wouldn't be speaking to you like this if you instead took a commercial image, and not someone elses artwork.
Another question arises is if you even did ask the permission of the original artist for you to edit his/her image? I suggest you should take it down before trouble starts.

I cannot begin to state how true this can be.
Well thanks for all the suggestions. At least you guys are giving me information rather than the assholes on the MW2 forum who are just insulting my first real Photoshop attempt. I'll probably take this down tomorrow to prevent more drama. Thanks again,
Fred.
When you apply a drop shadow with 0 distance, it sometimes makes the whole entity look blurry even when it's not. I think that happened to your text. That, or you actually applied a blur to it, which I wouldn't ever recommend for text. It especially looks out of place next to the clearly defined lines of the anime drawing.
you took a picture and added shit text
you took a picture and added shit text
A perfectly normal thing to do when you first start using Photoshop.
Perhaps posting it here was unnecessary though. I'm sure he'll be much better soon and find this embarrassing.
Did you ASK the artist for permission to use his work?
Posting a picture of someone elses artwork on the internet can have ... dire consequences :|

did you even ask for permission
you cant just take someones art and put it in context with something you made and then saying its ok cause you gave credit
no it is not ok if you didnt get permission
aw D8 ... I got called Dumb :c
