I had some battlefield moments yesterday, shooting down choppers in a tank destroyer and just doing awesome shots in general.
Robert Stoneman, one of the best machinima directors out there.
welp looks like it's time to play battlefield again
It's those moments that set Battlefield apart from the rest of the genre. There isn't really something comparable. Only thing that comes to mind is PlanetSide 2, but that misses the destructibility and the polish. It compensates that somewhat with sheer scale.
Yeah. At first glance battlefield is just another shooter genre.
You know, untill you snipe out a pilot from a helicopter and the falling helicopter roadkills an enemy sniper who's been harassing you.

True story.
Another great video from a great machinima director.
Only gripe I have is the depth of field added in post, almost made it look like BC2 at points.
That Stoneman has a career in directing for sure.
I liked the excited Russian antitank guy.

I believe he does the cinematic for a certain gaming company right now, but I can't remember which one, or even be sure he still does it
It wasn't really exciting per se but Stoneman is still a god damn great director.
I still remember when he was just Mightycrane Films.
That was an excellent production. If not, a vast misrepresentation of what actually happens in game.
I enjoyed it.

he was the 'cinematic designer' for Mass Effect 2 so that probably means he did some cutscene work
Since learning about how BF3 Machinimas are made, I imagine if you remove the bottom black bar you would see a hand holding a grenade, and this was during the entire video
I just love these BF3 machinimas. Though I do wish the widescreen bar didn't have to be so thick for this video
If only Battlefield 3 didn't just decide to stop working on my computer a while back.
Are Battlefield moments allowed to be scripted?
[editline]24th October 2012[/editline]
oh its scripted recreations of other moments. Thats kinda lame. Great video though.

Not mine, but I really want to know how he slowed it down.

I'ts called Pixel slow motion. You basicly morph frames into eachother.

God, I really need to get After Effects for this.
Stooonemaaaaan, let's see what you can do with SFM.

The plugin most popular for this is known as ReelSmart Twixtor, it's available for After Effects, Premiere, and Sony Vegas.
The built in mode is Pixel Motion, but there is an effect option After Effects known as TimeWarp that also uses Pixel Motion.

Yea, you simply find the lowest weapon. When I did a BC2 Vietnam video the lowest is the Morphine shot, so you can do the lowest amount of cropping.

What I did to help with this is to simply shoot with my view slightly pointed down, so you don't crop the top. Don't know if he did that. Only problem is the lens flare will be offset.

I know that birgirpall does his slow-mo by constantly recording at 100 fps, so he can slow his videos down 3x and still have smooth transitions.

That's what I was thinking he was doing, but most video cards/games cap at 60.

No, in the helicopter video you can clearly see distortion due to the frame blending.

No. Not at all.

DICE keeps bragging about their battlefield moments. I've had a lot myself but still, they refuse to put in some effort and give us decent recording tools similar to COD. They have even shown their internal tool for making trailers, where you can record and then fly around, similar to SFM.
Hell, they won't even let us hide our hud and viewmodel so we can at least film without having to make massive black borders to hide the hud and weapon.

There's a console command to hide the hud.
They should make a replay button for Battlefield 3, seriously.
The theater features from Halo/CoD/GTA should be in every game ever.
