Recently watched a show on the History Channel which categorized some of the greatest Americans from all time, ranging from George Washington, to Martin Luther King Jr. And I instantly recognized them as some of the greatest Americans, obviously.
Personally, my top few Americans rank in the following
1.George Washington
2.FDR
3.Thomas Edison
4.Wright Brothers
5.MLK.
Now, currently, my perceptions of the other country's top few may be totally wrong. I come to wonder if many of the French people see Napoleon Bonaparte as great figure in their history, or De Gaulle. Or if the Germans praise Bismarck or Charlemagne. Do the British/Scots/Welsh/Irish favored past important kings or leaders such as Churchill?
Do any Facepunchers here hold any of their home country's notable figures in high esteem or believed that a certain person held the greatest, positive influence that they have left on their country today?

He was. But he was German, born in Germany. Perhaps you should work your post differently? American heroes perhaps. But some people will get mixed up on that.

Wilhelm Tell for my Country.
For a scientist I'd say Leonard Euler (Einstein is German but he did his most famous work in Bern).
If you want a more recent one, I'd say Roger Federer since our politicians aren't that popular :v:
