He was 92. The cause was complications from a fall, the Family Radio network said in a statement Monday night. To a global following probably in the millions, Mr. Camping was the personification of the Family Radio network, broadcasting a nondenominational Christian ministry from Oakland, Calif., over scores of stations in the United States and 30 other countries. For 50 years he was the charismatic host of the network’s “Open Forum,” a 90-minute weekday call-in program of inspirational commentary, discussions and advice.
The compassionate side of me doesn't want to hate the guy on the grounds that he was probably senile and out of his mind when he was screaming about the end of the world.
Yeah, I'm not going to have any ill-will toward somebody who seriously thought the world was ending and was trying to warn as many people as possible. That's... that's a nice thing to do, there's nothing wrong with looking out for other people. You did your best, Harold.
Now where are we gonna get our ends of the world? :(
He was a manipulative asshole who did his best to mislead thousands even before he went senile. Even if he was just crazy and believed this, he wasn't exactly doing to well constantly pulling back his predictions.

RIP Harold Camping You caused people to commit suicide and made people give up their possessions.
He wasn't trying to warn people about their impending doom, he was manipulating thousands of people to support his own agenda.
Do you have any proof of that? I'm not going to call you a liar or anything, but I'm going to guess that's an opinion of yours and please correct me if I'm wrong. I feel that he saw something in a holy book that wasn't there, became alarmed, and tried to get the word out despite being labeled many, many things because of it. Yeah, he was all about getting people to convert to Christianity to save themselves, but here's the kicker, he actually believed they would be saving themselves. I don't think he had some monthly conversion quota to meet, tallying up all the people he managed to "win over" to Christianity.
Oh, THAT was Harold Camping. I thought it was this guy:
It looks like it's the end of the world for Camping.
It looks like it's the end of the world for Camping.
He's just scouting ahead for his loyal listeners.
Good riddance.
