Lol, is this guy serious?
Don't know what I expected, its the same old "feminism is sexist against men" bullshit again.
There is an International Men's Day, by the way.
Did you even fucking bother to watch the video, he literally mentions this less than a minute into the video. I don't know if you are serious but it is a little stupid how women need their own day.
Its just as stupid to get so buttflustered over it.
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
Also, I did hear him mention that in the beginning, however I also heard him almost completely disregard that right afterwards when he asks why men can't have a dedicated day at 1:21.
Not really seeing as how feminists like to pretend that women are the underdogs and they must fight for equality, but when it comes to their preferential treatment nothing is said.
It's International Women's Day. In a lot of countries women are still being oppressed to this day, regardless of the preferential treatment women get in the US and similar countries.
But there are millions of men who are oppressed to but that doesn't mean Google should change their homepage for men.

I'm sure there are a lot of things that don't need their own day, does an international women's day really bug you that much?
I'm sure there are a lot of things that don't need their own day, does an international women's day really bug you that much?
Personally, I couldn't give a shit either way it is just how laughable modern feminism is. Also it is a double standard.
it'd be cool if we had a international humanity day.
Not really seeing as how feminists like to pretend that women are the underdogs and they must fight for equality, but when it comes to their preferential treatment nothing is said.
good job basically proving that you have no idea what the fuck feminism is.
and i'd like to meet some of these feminists you're talking about. can we schedule a meeting or something
[editline]7th March 2014[/editline]
like lmao, i can't stand people saying this fucking bullshit
"black history month? where's white history month?"
"stop complaining about statistics that say you're more likely to get raped, women. that happens to us too so you can't complain!"
"how come women get their own chain of women-only gyms? we need that too!"
men, as a whole, are barely oppressed in comparison to women. we don't get these "privileges" because we already a ton of privilege. calm down and just sleep all day if a single fucking day dedicated to women bothers you that much.
or you could, y'know. become an egalitarian
If men were being oppressed in many places due to simply being male, that would be appropriate.
However, that hasn't happened yet.
people need to understand this
also, angry people saying that you're a pig online =/= oppression towards men. men have never been systematically denied the right to vote, been denied the permission to do what they want with their bodies drive, have had restrictions on what clothing they can wear... we've all been in history class, i don't think i need to mention anything else.

everybody with a right mind is this. if you're a feminist you're an egalitarian (well, at least for gender/sex).
saying something like "we should be equalists/egalitarians instead of feminists" is redundant and stupid because feminism is already a movement for gender/sex equality. only people i know that say that kind of stuff are afraid to identify as feminists because "hurr durr what about femen and tumblr feminists"
it's not redundant or stupid because it goes beyond gender/sex equality.
feminism isn't called feminism because it's arguing the inequality of race, it's arguing the inequality of man and woman.
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
this thread is dumb.

I'm pretty sure Milk was just saying that if you're a feminist then you're most likely egalitarian. Why would an oppressed group not fight for the rights of all oppressed groups.
but when it comes to their preferential treatment nothing is said.
um yes it is? real feminism is about gender equality and removal of gender stereotypes. that means that holding doors open for women is bullshit, that women getting custody of children more often is bullshit, that expecting men to be strong and stand up for women is bullshit. it means all of that stuff is bullshit
stop reading tumblr feminism and making dumb blanket statements that apply to over a hundred years of sociological theory
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
regardless, women's "preferential treatment" is not a positive thing. it's not empowering or positive to be constantly seen as the weaker half of society, as the gender that needs protection from the other. having a [metaphorical] door held open for you isn't a compliment
But there are millions of men who are oppressed to but that doesn't mean Google should change their homepage for men.
I'm fairly positive no man was ever oppressed for being a man. Maybe because they were gay or part of a race being discriminated against, but never because they were a man.
In the entire history of human civilization there has never been a civilization where men were at the bottom. I suppose maybe one old ass tribe or whatever maybe, but even then it doesn't stand up even slightly to the mountains of oppression that women have gone through, up until recently, when that's finally starting to be changed by feminists.
International Women's Day exists because women put up with discrimination for pretty much the entirety of human history, and even though it's made great strides towards equality we're still not there yet. But in the meantime, we still celebrate IWD because even if we stopped now it's an amazing achievement and it deserves to be celebrated.
I'm tired of men in the modern day who are completely blind to the sexism that's still going on against women and think that somehow, ~just magically~, women became equal and need to shut the fuck up about being equal, and seem to think feminism is a completely unrelated agenda dedicated to subjugating men.
Men have never been and never will be subjugated, so stop talking about ~how hard you've got it~. You've got it easy. You made it that way for yourselves since the very beginning of civilization, while you were busy subjugating us.
But there are millions of men who are oppressed to but that doesn't mean Google should change their homepage for men.
Oh no, oh no please this cant be true, not Goggles homepage! Oh the humanity! Why must men be treated like animals? WE ARE PEOPLE DAMN IT

The problem with your view is that there are many people in and oustide of the feminist movement who have no idea that that's true at all- at it's heart, feminism is for women- and only for women, no matter what anyone says. That's just how it's represented, and what it does effectively.
