In a Wednesday blog post, Ouya's Raf Tormans addressed developers, offering a general overview of the system's capabilities before the expected Dec. 1 release of the SDK and dev portal. "Now, why would Ouya do such a thing?" Tormans posed in his message. "Because you're smart. And smart people don't need no stinkin' SDKs to develop amazing games. All you need is a shot bottle of whiskey and the below information," he wrote. Based on Android's Jelly Bean operating system, Ouya is built similarly to standard Android games. But Tormans pointed to specific elements that are unique to the new company, including aspects of the input, display, payment process, and settings and software.
Any of you guys here took advantage(or disadvantage??) of the Ouya kickstarter package? I am very curious how this grand project will turn out. It's the GAMES.. always the GAMES! How are they going to get the GAMES for us to play? I know this Ouya thing is modifiable beyond imagination, but what's the point without games!
I like the idea of this if not purely for being able to emulate retro games on it :v: I'd like to see game devs take the mobile platform seriously though, and this is a perfect opportunity
Haven't they already said that they weren't having any kind of anti-piracy program on their system? It's just going to be another Dreamcast. People will just burn/download the games and apps without paying a dime more than the system itself. GG Ouya, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
if it's successful i get a games console for 99$ woo if not, hack it and turn it into the ultimate home theater device no wrong way here

[editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] Meh if it's running android it'll have a root exploit sooner or later

Energy efficient desktop.
Ouya — Kickstarter sensation and gaming console of the future
no.
no.
Well, technically it is a gaming console and it will (maybe) be released in the future so... Yeah no.
This is what Raspberry Pi is for. And it's 1/3 the price.
It's also 1/10th the performance, so yeah.
It's funny, they were doing a survey of what games people want on it, and skyrom won. People think the ouya could run skyrim.
Either they were taking a piss on it, or just retards. Judging by the average Joe nowadays, I'd say mostly the latter.
The only two games I saw on the list that I know could run it were dungeon defenders and minecraft, which would both be the gimped versions.
