• All seven of Lance Armstrong's Tour de France Wins Will Go To Cyclists With Doping Scandals Of Their
Now Lance Armstrong has been stripped of his seven consecutive Tour de France titles, thanks to the persistent doping allegations against him. It's a sad day for the sport, but at least it vindicates all of the clean-riding cyclists who finished behind Armstrong. Right? So here are the runners-up who stand to inherit the yellow jerseys from the disgraced champ: 1999: Alex Zülle (confessed to EPO use) 2000: Jan Ullrich (suspended from 2006 Tour; banned this year and stripped of all results from 2005 on) 2001: Jan Ullrich 2002: Joseba Beloki (kept out of 2006 Tour while under doping investigation, later cleared) 2003: Jan Ullrich 2004: Andreas Klöden (accused of illegal blood transfusion in the 2006 Tour) 2005: Ivan Basso (confessed to attempted doping, suspended)
Source: http://deadspin.com/5937591/all-seven-of-lance-armstrongs-tour-de-france-wins-would-now-go-to-cyclists-with-doping-scandals-of-their-own
People are spending way too much time over a silly sport
I still don't understand how you can un-win somebody. Everyone knows him as the guy who won 7 races and also beat ball cancer, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it imho.
I'd actually watch the tour the france if everyone could do steroids and push other people off the road

I don't get this. Even if he was doped he still managed to top his form the same week every year for 7 years in a row that takes a certain amount of skill
This is just so shitty. I can't believe it.
He never admitted it, he's been tested multiple times and nothing has come up, its just some US anti doping agency going on a witch hunt in my opinion so as far as I'm concerned, he's still the winner of those titles
This is bullshit. At just about every sport, at that level of competition everyone is doping. It's just a matter of who gets caught and who doesn't. He didn't even admit to doing it either.
Wait, wait, wait... Illegal blood transfusion? What in the everloving hell?
Wait, wait, wait... Illegal blood transfusion? What in the everloving hell?
If you draw blood a few days in advance, then re-inject it right before a competition, your bloodstream can transport more oxygen than it can normally. This results in better performance. Hence, illegal blood transfusion.
They used to get blood taken from them, which would be stored temporarily... then their blood would regenerate, but they would then reinject their own blood to boost their overall blood levels. Doping is all about getting the maximum amount of oxygen to muscles via red blood cells. Also, I'm pretty sure they did test him for red blood cell count and found him over the average amount. I don't think he's completely innocent, but I still think he's a fucking hero... and stripping him of his titles is ridiculous. The sad thing is, the board have an absolute zero tolerance policy when it comes to doping. Even if they have a decent excuse, it doesn't matter. [editline]26th August 2012[/editline] Damn, ninja'd with the blood transfusion...
I'd actually watch the tour the france if everyone could do steroids and push other people off the road
I was coming here to say this, since it seems every god damn contestant in the last ten years to take part in the Tour de France has either been doing steroids or blood transfusions. I have a great idea: How about we mandate steroids and blood transfusions for ALL Tour de France participants, clear up all the mistrust and ambiguity. You'd be disqualified if you got caught without any performance enhancers in your bloodstream.
Wait, wait, wait... Illegal blood transfusion? What in the everloving hell?
I was wondering about this and the term "blood doping" during the Olympics so I did some research. You can apparently genetically modify someone’s blood via a transfusion, so they have all the benefits of steroids without the steroids being in their system.
he did actually
Just because a couple of 'witnesses' came forward and said he did take a few performance enhancing drugs does not count as an admission. He has never failed a drug test in all his years of racing. The only 'proof' that he's ever taken drugs is a handful of 'witnesses' saying they heard Lance say things or saw him take something but there isn't any actual physical proof that he did take anything. If testimonials can be considered evidence than what is even the point of drug testing?
When asked what he thought in regard to receiving 3 Tour de France wins in 1 day, Jan Ullrich claims it was "pretty dope" He was since been taken into custody for further questioning
-snip-
Mother fuckers. This great man has done NOTHING WRONG, and he gets punished for it. He survived cancer, beating ALL THE ODDS, to become the best cyclist, and figure head of the biggest cancer research group... ...all for some dick holes to call foul with no evidence. How can they do this? How can they just, revoke all his titles, without any looking into it?
He has never failed a drug test in all his years of racing.
well there is this one he failed from 1999
The USADA is dumb. If everyone in the race is using doping to gain an advantage, then there is no advantage.
If everyone in the race is using doping to gain an advantage, then there is no advantage.
But it makes it impossible to compete without doping. I agree with the purpose of the USADA, but their witch hunt against Lance Armstrong with no evidence other than a handful of 'witnesses' is deplorable.
RIP Lance Armstrong. You were an inspiration to us all.
People are spending way too much time over a silly sport
How are you to determine what is silly to others?
It's just like with Michael Rasmussen - he won Tour de France, but since there were some somewhat supicious circumstances, he was disqualified. The real deal is that no official back here supported him in any way, and as such he was at pressure both at home and at Tour de France. It was Denmark that got him disqualified, not the French. Cycle sport seems like the most unfair sport ever.
I don't get why athletes would even dope. That's just a case of cops switching to semi-auto pistols and the criminals getting full-auto guns. Pointless escalation.
This is retarded beyond words.
