Speaking with TVMag (France) via XFilesNews.com, actor David Duchovny confirmed that the script for a third feature film based on the X-Files franchise is in the works. He also shared some of his thoughts regarding the second movie X-Files: I Want To Believe.
"It is in the process of being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film. The error comes, in my opinion, that the authors strayed too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc."
So, the last movie really wasn't that good, it felt like a TV movie and it didn't have that atmosphere like the show or even the first feature film. However, as a huge fan of the entire franchise, I wonder what will they do with the next one. Maybe 2012 and the end of the world?
I want to believe! Seriously, The X-Files is THE BEST television show... I watched it as a kid and recently re-watched the entire series. I was really looking forward to the second film, but was quite disappointed when it felt like a generic monster-of-the-week television episode... :sigh:
gah i wish i watched this show. i never did, ever. I saw part of the movie that came out recently though [editline]7th November 2010[/editline] I just checked netflix, Xfiles is on instant stream! :buddy: i know what i am gunna watch later now
First movie= awesome. Second movie= meh. Third movie= awesome?
Third time's the charm.
Third time's the charm.
Three strikes and you're out.
Meh, never liked X-Files, the entire storyline seemed far too cliche, for me.
There was a second movie? Don't misunderstand me I like the X-Files but I just never knew this.
The first being 1998's Fight for the Future and the second would be 08's I Want to Believe.
Fuck yes.
Fuck yea.

I just finished watching the whole show again a few weeks ago, this is great.
