• Hurricane beating Mexican coast
(Reuters) - Hurricane Ingrid strengthened on Saturday night as it spun off Mexico's Gulf Coast, dumping heavy rain across central and eastern Mexico. Rain from the Category 1 hurricane has caused river levels to rise and emergency services to prepare for evacuations, but state oil monopoly Pemex said its installations in the Gulf of Mexico were operating normally. Ingrid, with sustained winds of 80 miles per hour, could grow even stronger over the next two days as it nears Mexico's coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. A Category 1 storm is the lowest intensity on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale. Pemex was operating under security protocols, but none of its installations had been affected, a spokesman said earlier on Saturday. Two of Mexico's three major oil-exporting ports were closed, but most of the country's Gulf Coast ports including Veracruz remained open on Saturday as the storm approached.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/09/15/us-storm-ingrid-idUSBRE98D0AH20130915
Doesn't help that there's another Tropical Storm to the Southwest of this Hurricane. It's causing massive rainfall over Mexico right now. That image above is the forecasted track for up to the next 5 days, so this thing isn't moving very quickly.
So that's why it's been raining all day long, I had no idea.
What? Great, I have family smack dab in the hurricane area.

I live on Long Island and it really got fucked up by Sandy. I was lucky enough to only get a day of no power because I live pretty far inland (about as far inland as one can get on an island). I remember hearing people talk about how they've had to go without power for weeks after it hit, though. And we were only getting hit by the edge of the storm. Places like the Jersey Shore, Manhattan, and the western edge of LI got their shit WRECKED.

Ike put it underwater and took houses amd people out to sea never to be seen again. People like you who said it would be nothing like Rita was. 17 foot storm surge took them out to be shark food. [editline]14th September 2013[/editline] I live 80 miles north and it was strong enough to peel a large marina, boats and all, back like it was a sardine can.
Hurricanes really aren't bad. People really over aggregate their power. And yes partied outside in a cat 4 hurricane...
My mom was in cancun for Hurricane Rita. Shit wasn't good, and the American government was nice enough to tell all the Americans to figure out how to get home on their own.
So that's why it's been raining all day long, I had no idea.
Famous last words.

After Isabel (CAT 4/5) we didn't have power for weeks... Maybe you should learn to live without being a cry baby?
Sandy also hit pretty late in the year, and hit an area that doesn't get hit by storms very often so they aren't prepared, at all, for it.

I don't even remember what the news said about the destruction because by the time i got power back it was old news. Oh, and that was "only" a category 2 when it made landfall in Galveston, which resulted in that picture. The island was underwater
Hoping this hurricane system brings some rain to texas though, I need it helpp
I enjoy riding out hurricanes but to blatantly disregard their power is ignorant and what gets people killed. Why don't we talk about a real man's storm.

Why, I stood on my front porch smoking my pipe and flexing my muscles while a hurricane hit my house. Lucky for me, toughness seems to be a deterrent, and everyone's house but mine was washed away! I even get new neighbors since they can't seem to find the old ones..."Maybe you should learn to live without being a cry baby!"
So that's why it's been raining all day long, I had no idea.
Don't you Mexicans speak Spanish really weird? Like, the "s"'s in your words are really exagerated
Man cancun and the other resort hotspots are going to get hit pretty hard...again :(
Cool, Sandy was a Cat 1; I live in the NC we get hurricanes all the time. After Isabel (CAT 4/5) we didn't have power for weeks... Maybe you should learn to live without being a cry baby?
Like I said, I was lucky. Like I also said, a shit ton of places were nearly or completely destroyed. Breezy point in Queens got caught on fire because of the storm. Places were flooded. People displaced or killed. We had virtually no experience getting hit by hurricanes, of course a Cat 1 would be devastating. A Cat 4 or 5 would have turned Long Island into a wasteland. So how about instead of acting like a cunt you should try to be more understanding.

You think you have problems?
Fuck I hope that that goddamned windy thing won't get near my casita
will this affect the burrito supply because if it does this is a national emergency
Oh shit, I live in Florida and I completely forgot about hurricane season.
Cool, Sandy was a Cat 1; I live in the NC we get hurricanes all the time. After Isabel (CAT 4/5) we didn't have power for weeks... Maybe you should learn to live without being a cry baby?
You live in an area where buildings are designed to be hurricane-proof. In Florida, most building are relatively safe up until category 3 because they're designed to withstand the wind and rain. But in an area not regularly visited by hurricanes like New York, a "simple" category 1 can fuck shit up badly. This reminds me of the UK heatwave and how people kept saying they should toughen up. It's all relative.
I think this is the area my father's family is from but he hasn't told me anything about this so I can assume it missed them or he hasn't been paying attention to the news and they're all dead
