Is it right?
This keeps constantly happening in my schools. They shouldn't be able to punish you for something you did when you weren't on the school's property and when school wasn't even in session.
That doesn't even make sense.
In the case of fights then I can understand how that is punishable even when done outside of school. It causes problems within the school.
Do I think it's right? I don't know.
Unless it's some private academy that you have to sign a contract forbidding any misconduct outside of school or etc., there's not a thing they can do about your actions outside of school.
It's bullshit OP.

They do it all the time with fights.
Yah, I got into a fight when school wasn't even in session and I got suspended for two days..
unless you are doing it on the school grounds you can't really get in trouble(with the school) for what you do
My vice principal told us a while ago that they were responsible for you from when you left school to the time you got home. I don't know to what extent, or even if this is true or not, but it's her explanation for why you get in trouble. I can understand that, but if it happens on a saturday or something, it's complete bullshit.
I got a week of it for putting gum on top of a lock on one of those big grey mailboxes at my bus stop in middle school.
The school is liable for your actions from the time you leave your house and until you arrive home.
Anything that happens out of school that may carry over into school hours and disrupt school can and probably will be punished.
I remember the time when someone posted a youtube video of someone getting bullied outside of school, the victim told the principal and the guy that posted the video had to remove it and got suspended :geno:
