Your police force is quite a mockery of its very concept.
Are you trying to start a shitstorm OP?
That logic isn't just retarded. It's pants-on-head retarded, especially if he's screaming out his inability to breathe as he's fucking dying.
Not trying to be a shithead, just sharing this in the most sensationalist way possible. I still stand by the idea that King's comments are fucking asinine.
I mean, yeah if you're one of these whales who literally has a hard time sleeping on their back because your fat is so heavy you struggle to expand your lungs cause of the weight, but I really don't think that's applicable in this case.
What a fucking joke. Cops are considering it a voluntary disability or something? How about this. It's as much of disability as the mental disability of being an idiot.

If he was any thinner the cop pile that was on top of the dude probably would've snapped his spine.
Tip: the title of the forum is satire, and should never be taken literally.
Had no idea, my apologies. I had seen other headlines that led me to believe that it was kind of the theme of the thread.
Had no idea, my apologies. I had seen other headlines that led me to believe that it was kind of the theme of the thread.
no we just have lots of people who are dumb on accident
What a fucking joke. Cops are considering it a voluntary disability or something? How about this. Comparing obesity to having a mental disability is laughable. Unless you aren't saying what I think you are, I can't really understand your post. Incoming dumbs from fatties who can't count calories.. (User was banned for this post ("Cares about ratings / Trolling" - Craptasket))
I found this incident pretty appalling. I hate to be the 'should have shot him in the leg' kind of guy but why did he think that a choke hold was appropriate? There was no chance he was going to be able to do anything when you had 4 or 5 officers on him. It's the police officer's fucking fault for not letting go after he cried 'I can't breathe'. It's just straight up murder.
Your understanding is lacking. His size did become a factor in his death.
Your understanding is lacking. His size did become a factor in his death.
I don't think that his size excuses the actions of the officer.
I don't think that his size excuses the actions of the officer.
Never said it excused anything. I said it was a factor. Which it was.
Sure it may have been a factor. But King is citing it as his reasoning for defending the decision not to indict the officer who killed him, and it doesn't change the fact that had the officer not choked him, he would not have died, regardless of his weight.
I think we're on the same page here. I'm not defending the choke hold. I'm not defending the actions of any of those officers. I just said that his weight was a factor in his death.
I don't even think the choke hold had anything to do with his death. Choke Holds cut off the blood to your brain and cause you to black out (Have had it done to me) And at no point did he pass out, and after he was on the ground they let go of the chokehold and just kept control of his head. Nor did he die of
asphyxiation or have injuries to his windpipe or neck.

Garner died thanks to acute and chronic bronchial asthma, obesity, and heart disease.
As noted in the autopsy report As for the decision to put him in one to try and bring him down, how else are you going to bring a guy of that size down who doesn't want to go down? Are the police supposed to walk away because he said no? Selling loose cigs is illegal because of tax reasons, and he was arrested for doing it close to 10 times prior, with more than 30 arrests in his life time. Police go in this order of force: Verbal -> Hands on -> Mace -> Baton -> Gun. That's how pretty much ALL US Police Departments engage with people when they're under arrest, and they have to explain why they skipped any steps in their report. Especially in shooting incidents. Him dying from this is actually a freak accident, and that's why (I'm guessing) there was no indictment
Your understanding is lacking. His size did become a factor in his death.
Big surprise, Code3Response is once again defending the use of excessive force against minorities. Call me crazy, but I would probably argue that the arm firmly locked around Graner's throat, and the officers kneeling into his back, were a somewhat more relevant factor than his mild weight problem in his death by asphyxiation.
Pretty sure the elevated heart rate of a morbidly obese man in combination with the choke hold killed him

Even if chokeholds weren't an illegal use of force, and despite the fact that officers have several non-lethal tools available to subdue an unwilling suspect, that level of brutality still would have been completely unjustified. Garner was not being violent. He was protesting, but not acting violently. And for god's sake, he was selling single cigarettes. Illegal, sure, but hardly something that justifies anything more than a warning or a ticket.

Police go from verbal commands, to hands on, to the mace then taser/baton then gun. That's the escalation of force they follow, and they followed it. Whenever you see one of these steps skipped, they have to have a reason for doing so, and they have to explain it as well
Tbh if you're fat enough that it means you'll die if you get choked out then you should lose weight rather than rolling around being a land whale.
I saw the video, who uses a brachial pulse to check if someone's heart stopped?
Tbh if you're fat enough that it means you'll die if you get choked out then you should lose weight rather than rolling around being a land whale.
so literally everyone is a lard whale? choking can kill anyone
so literally everyone is a lard whale? choking can kill anyone
Thats not what I meant. I meant if you're fat enough that it is a considerable factor in you dieing due to being choked out then you are.
Thats not what I meant. I meant if you're fat enough that it is a considerable factor in you dieing due to being choked out then you are.
I'm sure it's only being considered as a factor because it was a cop that committed the killing. If I choked a fat woman to death, could I say I only wanted to knock her out? Hence it was an accidental killing?
Tbh if you're fat enough that it means you'll die if you get choked out then you should lose weight rather than rolling around being a land whale.
Chubbs, your viewpoint is ironic as fuck. On topic, I think it's safe to say that anyone is susceptible to death when being choked. Excusing the officer's actions because this particular victim was conveniently fat is completely fucked, in my opinion. Not everyone can just drop weight, there are disorders that make it very difficult, so lumping every obese person into the category of, "land whale," isn't a good way to look at it. It's like, if I were to make the argument that, if he weren't asthmatic, he might not have had such a hard time breathing. "But that's not his fault, he can't just not have asthma!" Well, potentially, neither was his weight. Either way, it doesn't matter how his health was, it wouldn't be a question or a convenient excuse if the cop hadn't fucking strangled him.
