I fuckin cried
It's well made, but I personally don't like it when struggles like that are given such poetic descriptions. It's less like walking on a tight-rope, more like... drudgery to be more accurate. I mean I know it all means well, but it's kinda like prettying things up when they shouldn't be sugar-coated.

It's a great concept and beautifully crafted, but it seems like more catering to emotion was given than focusing on the actual message. And by that, I mean that it was a little blurry to pick up at some moments

Even if it is this is an extremely effective way of getting the point across and will probably be more noticed than something that puts it more frankly.
I'm going to hell Laughed out loud at the shark/alligator thing because all I could think about was that manga and the "GASHUNK" sound effect

It's videos like these that remind me how fucking amazing spoken word can be.
Got a bit meh towards the end though, I just feel like it was missing something. Still, this is a good example of how to do an Anti-Bullying Campaign.
In primary school I was bullied like fuck. I mean, to the point where one of the kids ended up getting one of those neon-looking skipping ropes and whipping me for shits and giggles. Dropped out into home education for two years, joined half-way through the second year of secondary school, and life's good now. I left secondary school with 21 and a half GCSEs under my belt, 19 and a half of which were A-C grades, and now I'm half-way through my first year at sixthform. Bullying's a piece'a shit, I tell ya what. And there's nothing better than a helping hand to get out of it.
Well, that effected me. I was bullied for the entirety of my time at "secondary school" and I still haven't forgotten about the word they used to call me. It's carved into my brain, how could I forget it? you could say I'm being melodramatic, but this word has stopped me from getting the grades I should have and frankly, stopped me from functioning the way I should as a teenager. I'm 19 going on 20 now and I'm in counseling because of those absolute morons. So, for those of you who think bullying is a funny thing, no, no it fucking isn't.
It was powerful, but I'm not sure I quite got the right message from it - may have been lost by how dramatic and emotional it was. What I picked up was: "Life's a bitch, but even if everyone's kicking you when you're down, you have to endure it so you can prove them wrong." Which I entirely don't agree with. You have to find an outlet, someone to talk to. My school life was never bad, I was a bit of an oddball; but I had a lot of friends. And then I moved. So now I was a cynical oddball with no friends. It took me a year just to make two, and they were a grade below me - so we never had class. Yet for all those days of sitting in the back corner, sleeping through class, and never wanting to be a part of any group - I got through it easily. I had friends, and family, and video games. And if I had none of those things, well, things would be a lot different. I would have had to have found something to let my emotions seep out, whether outwardly or inward. So maybe I just missed the video message; but the way to deal with bullying is not to cope with it and prance about with the "Prove them Wrong!!" strategy. It's to talk it out, figure it out, and then realize why they were wrong. If you have to prove yourself to your enemies, you're doing something wrong. :v:
I didn't really get anything from this video because I'm for self improvement. I mean like if I'm called fat, I'd just be OK with it because if I was fat and someone called me out on it I would find a way to improve upon it rather then just mope about being fat.
Welp. There goes my Thursday of being relatively happy.
Is this a joke? He tells a funny story from his childhood and then it snowballs into the most melodramatic pretentious pieces of prose I've ever heard

Hit pretty close to home there. :smith:
All of this happens if you are extra, just don't be extra and your social days will be fine
Reminded me of all the shit I used to go through, and still kinda do.
I think it all wouldn't have happened if he just answered "Pork chops" instead of "Karate chops". I laughed when he answered with "Karate chops"
Knew it was going to be this poem. Shane Koyczan is one of my favorite poets, and I highly recommend checking out his other works. I don't even care what anyone's opinion of this is. If it got the message across to you, great; try and do something. If it didn't, even better. The thing is that this is an example of incredible poetry and I appreciate it for its message and its beauty.
great speaker
The only reason kids get bullied is because they are acting like boners. That and he really this thing way too over dramatic.
The only reason kids get bullied is because they are acting like boners. That and he really this thing way too over dramatic.
victim blaming that's nice
The only reason kids get bullied is because they are acting like boners. That and he really this thing way too over dramatic.
you sound really stupid
The only reason kids get bullied is because they are acting like boners. That and he really this thing way too over dramatic.
It's hard to understand, but its true. In highschool, the only people who ever were singled out was because they were overly extra, wouldn't do shit to not be annoying, took everything as offence and probably thought the whole world was against them. If you want to stop being 'bullied' don't start acting like you're being 'bullied' I also hate that word, 'bullying' it's survival of the fittest, do something to change shit. If you're not big or anything, use your words. You can shit talk and weasel to get your way out of anything. Stop secluding yourself whimpering because noone likes you. As long as people aren't robbing you or kicking the shit out of you, it isn't bullying. Also, stop thinking that anyone who hasn't been bullied doesn't know the feeling, the feeling is anxiety and everyone gets it. You feel like there's no point for your input, or theres nothing you can do. It's bullshit. But, this is facepunch so I already know no one is going to see eye-eye with me because they're so ~damaged~ and noone ~understands~

I was the biggest retard in primary school and was so blind to social norms because of autism but it was essentially a learning experience, by highschool I figured it out only because by being bullied had I ascertained that something was actually wrong and if I hadn't I would have wound up a manchild the likes of the sonichu guy. Bullying is a social mechanism for expunging flawed behavior, its outdated and cruel but it is built into the fabric of humanity and it isn't going away ever, it never actually stops either. You will always be 'bullied' since it is only through the collisions of personality that you actually shape yourself, it's a gravity to keep you grounded, if you didn't have it you would become an egotistical warped individual. If nobody tells you that you are wrong, you'll always be wrong. [editline]24th February 2013[/editline] I mean it IS fucked up, I'm not an apologist, I've seen videos of Chinese students in Japanese schools forced to strip naked and getting beaten mercilessly in the bathroom of a public school and I didn't have control over the fact I've got a fucked up brain but reality doesn't get softer just because you're sad and most of these people are the same people who think CYBERBULLYING and being called "a fat cunt" is equal to that Chinese student getting their naked ass beaten at a public school purely because they're the wrong nationality. Sure they stem from the same cause but just because you live in the first world and have money to spend doesn't make your problems important, by all means stop bullying but for the love of fuck don't try and legislate it out of existence, it just cannot and will not work. [editline]24th February 2013[/editline] I dunno what I'm talking about please stick all the dicks in and around my face.
