A staff member at the Oregon Humane Society (OHS), in Portland, where she is being cared for, knitted the sweater to help one-year-old Silky stay warm.
The hamster was born hairless due to a genetic mutation, except for short curly whiskers on her snout.

that's far too cute
like seriously i think we've hit some sort of cuteness threshold. this is it. you can't get cuter than knitting a bald hamster a sweater
I kinda wanna eat it.
The Hamster or the sweater.
It looks like a lump of skin with legs attached to it

Both, but make the sweater made out of tortilla.
Add some Siracha and bam.
I hope they breed these in the future... They are just TOO CUTE! Like hairless cats! :excited:

Oh I hope not. We fuck over too many animal breeds due to "cuteness". The poor thing needs special care since it doesn't have any fur to stay warm. I hope the hamster gets a good home.

Hairless cats are considered cute? They're fugly and look unnatural, I don't get it.

Yeah, I gotta say, as neato as hairless variants are, we shouldn't artificially perpetuate it.
My family actually has three hairless cats (all rescues; we didn't buy them from a breeder) and they are cool. But they have several health and hygiene problems, like excessive skin oil buildup (they need weekly baths), excessive ear wax buildup (no ear hairs), sensitive skin that leaves them susceptible to sunburns and injuries, and very sensitive digestive systems. Not to mention that, of course, they have a hard time staying warm (which means they eat a ton more than a normal cat and have to wear sweaters in the winter just like this hamster). All this combined means they wouldn't last outside, so these cats are doomed to a life of being cooped up indoors.
I love them as they are, since they were already born into this world and we simply took them in, but I would feel bad contributing to the breeding market by actually buying one. We really need to stop doing this shit to animals.

You watch your mouth, boy.
How can you not think this is cute?

Can't tell if you're serious
Can't tell if you're serious
Why wouldn't I be serious? I live with these cats and I think they're cute.
Ironically, cats with hair are the ones that look unnatural to me now.

Oh, come on... LOOK AT THEM!!!

These hairless cats look like corpses
its nice but...
its just going to eat the sweater, hamsters eat everything.
Oh god, that thing is hideous!

You aren't supposed to let cats outside anyways. Their life expectancy drops from 15 years to less than 3.

don't tell my cat, he's going on 16 now. same one that got lost after katrina for 5 years that I got back in 2010. I'd wager he's spent more time outside in his life than I have, which is saying something seeing as I'm well over a decade older than him
e: saying "animals should be kept indoors" is ridiculous as hell anyway
I kinda wanna eat it.
I can't help but to feel that word "kinda" inexplicably turns this phrase into a literal statement.
It took a while for me to get it and stop being disgusted by you.

I believe Francis of the Filth had a cooking video for such occasion

Give me more details please, I'm out of the loop!

can't believe my cat has surpassed his life expectancy by 13 years

That sounds incorrect.

Dunno how you find it cute

I'd rather have a pet cockroach than a hairless cat
These hairless cats look like corpses
They look like if From Software wanted to put hollow cats in Dark Souls 3 along with the hollow dogs
I think they're cute.
Hairless cats are the feline Chihuahua. Not even "ugly-cute" like a pug, just some abomination of science that has bred out anything appealing about the original animal and created something that was not meant to be.

The only life expectancy dropping is the local wildlife.
My cat is a fucking panther
