Disney Interactive will unveil a new "gaming initative" called Disney Infinity on Jan. 15, according to an invitation received today by Joystiq. Disney Interactive co-president John Pleasants and Disney/Pixar CCO John Lasseter will speak at the event, suggesting that Disney Infinity is a Big Deal.
The lenticular card also suggests a big deal.
An interview with Disney CEO Robert Iger in October revealed plans for something called "Toy Box," which would have Disney and Pixar characters interacting in games across multiple platforms. It's possible that Disney has renamed that project "Infinity." We'll find out in January.
It looks interesting I'll give it that.
some major mmo type deal?
could be interesting for kids
Well Where's My Water is good...
Sounds like a rebranded club penguin with new characters.
Their game reviews were fun to read in the pre-2006 Disney Magazines.
Oh god please be a new INcredibles movie, the first one was awesome, and of all the pixar movies they've made, that one is the one I want a sequel for.
Oh boy, Disney and gaming events.

The last game I seem to remember Disney hyping up was Epic Mickey... yeah...

I'm picking up unusual levels of spaghetti for an E3 presentation.
Anyway. This Infinity thing sounds interesting, to say the least.

That was harrowing.
What they did do to my battlefront 3 is not forgotten just yet.

That wasn't Disney.

Battlefront 3: MMO.
"Like planetside, only BIGGER, BADDER, and MORE STAR WARSER!"
There was a rumor Disney wanted to cash-in on the whole Skylanders thing by doing their own version of it.
Imagine, a game where you can play as hundreds of Disney characters, from heroes to villains to lesser/side characters.
Disney SSB? Disney DOTA? It'll probably be an MMO, They've done them before (toontown) although they could try going for an adventure game in the vein of the LEGO series. Oh the possibilities.

disney owns lucas arts
Disney didn't own Lucasarts at the time BF3 was cancelled, surely.
people automatically assume its for kids every time disney is involved
they forget that disney is one of the big 6 hollywood studios and owns a bunch of subsidiaries that make movies for people your age and older, too.
this is probably them trying to expand some more, i'm quite interested because they have the resources to pull it off
Kingdom Hearts 3 with Star Wars and Marvel worlds.
one can dream
Dream? I think "have night terrors" would be a better choice of words.
Reminds me of VMK

Holy shit, I'm not the only one here who remembers that.
I remember when it shut down, even.

Why not just make a home version of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom?

I don't care how bad that is, it would still be better than the "Blizzard DOTA" that was announced, and then magically was never heard about again.
