BATMAN BEYOND Probably one of the best animated series i've ever seen. It's just Batman, Gotham, the Joker, everything in the fucking future. Best part of it? Unlike most of cartoons today, made for children or just being childish, this cartoon had a different style, by far more mature. Watch an episode of it, you'll see how really badass this is.
Batman Beyond, also known as Batman of the Future, is an Emmy Award-winning American animated television series created by The WB Television Network in collaboration with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation as a continuation of the Batman legacy.[1] It began airing on January 10, 1999, and ended its run on December 14, 2002. After 52 episodes spanning three seasons and one direct-to-video film, the series was put on hold for the new Justice League animated series despite the network having announced plans for a fourth season.[2] However, there was a short-lived spin-off, The Zeta Project. In The Zeta Project's first season episode "Shadows", there is a crossover with Batman Beyond; in this continuity, the story takes place between the episode "Countdown" and the series finale "Unmasked." Batman Beyond is set in the chronological future of the DC animated universe, although it was released before Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Static Shock. Some characters from the series appeared two years later in "Future Shock", an episode of Static Shock, and then again in "The Once and Future Thing", episodes of Justice League Unlimited. The character of Terry McGinnis was revisited a final time in the JLU episode "Epilogue", which tells much about the future of Batman. Batman Beyond is said to exploit the darker side of many Batman projects, playing on key elements such as emotions, personal relations, the fear of the unknown and technological malfunctions. As such, it was considerably darker than most other children's programs at the time, although producer Bruce Timm recalls it was conceived as a kid-friendly Batman cartoon.[3] It is also the first Batman series to portray the hero as a teenager. IGN named the show 40th on their list of "Top 100 Animated TV Series".[4] Batman Beyond began airing on The Hub network in October 2010. The show is currently airing on the UK channel Kix! under the title of Batman of the Future.
The lovely intro: There's a movie of BB too: Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (also known as Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker in Europe and Australia) is a 2000 direct-to-video animated film featuring the comic book superhero Batman and his archenemy, the Joker. It is set in the continuity of the animated series Batman Beyond, in which Bruce Wayne has retired from crimefighting and given the mantle of Batman to high school student Terry McGinnis. As in the TV series, Will Friedle and Kevin Conroy star as Terry McGinnis and Bruce Wayne, respectively. Mark Hamill, who played the Joker opposite Conroy in Batman: The Animated Series, returns in the title role. Before its release, the movie was heavily edited to remove scenes of violence, and some dialogue was altered, thus creating the "Not-Rated" version of the movie. The original version was subsequently released on DVD following an online petition to have the original version released. It received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA for violence, the first animated Batman film to do so.
notable scene of the movie: death of the joker Hell, we need a live action film of this, Dark Knight style.
That scene. That freaking son of the Joker's is scary as hell. :ohdear:
I honestly think Return of the Joker is my favorite animated Batman ever. Plus, I think it's where Mark Hamill was at his finest and most sinister. Bruce Timm's animated series or rather the DC Animated Universe is without question one of the greatest part of my childhood cartoons. Return of the Joker would have made a great live-action film. I still look forward to a Batman Beyond live action movie.
There was almost a live action movie :aaa:
I love the cartoons of my childhood :allears:
I watched an episode of this the other day. Terry is freaking huge
Loved it. When I started watching it I didn't think I would like Terry but I really got into it eventually. Haven't seen return of the joker but I really want to. Already seen Joker's death.

Not only is it more entertaining, it also makes a lot more sense with the little things.
This show was terrific. It was action-packed and defined Kids WB on Saturday. The best part was that the show was aimed for younger and more mature audiences.
Oh god, I remember that death of the joker scene on my old VHS version, creepy shit as a kid.
Easily one of my favorite cartoons
This and the other Batman cartoon made by the same guy are the best Batman cartoons ever.
When he says "oh what the hell I'll laugh anyway", that was both hilarious and amazing.
-snip-
Terry was a wisecracking badass and had the same appeal to me as Spider-man
Sadly I had limited access to this show because almost always missed it when it was on TV, pissed me off because I wanted to see it badly. I did manage to see some episodes though, great show.
Love that intro music so much.
Terry has been integrated into the official canon a while back! Great eh?
Wasn't there a movie where there was some disease that slowly killed people, like the black plague? I might be thinking of another movie with similar animation.

Seems like this one http://dcanimated.wikia.com/wiki/Plague
Seems like this one http://dcanimated.wikia.com/wiki/Plague
I don't know, all I remember was that there was this black shit everywhere.
Awesome show. It's too bad it never got a finale in its own run... thankfully, that was remedied in the episode "Epilogue" from Justice League Unlimited.
