• Google Ups Research & Development to Make Solar Cheaper than Coal

[Release] It’s no mystery that Google is an internet powerhouse, but within the last couple of years, they have expanded their efforts to make big changes in the way we power our homes and cities. Their goal? To create a viable renewable energy option that is cheaper than coal, and their new patented solution just might do the trick. The concentrated solar technology makes use of a camera to adjust mirrors that optimize a given plant’s efficiency. The camera and a processing computer are located within the central tower of the solar thermal plant, and if a misalignment, or better (more efficient) angle is detected, then the mirrors are adjusted by robotic actuators. Rather than focusing their efforts on lowering the cost of current solar technology, they have chosen to invest in the search for new solutions that could win the race against coal. In addition to hiring three new technology specialists for their R&D department, they’ve looked into grid power management strategies as well. Their PowerMeter Software coupled with their investment in various energy firms are further proof that Google is looking beyond ad-space to support their ever-growing company. In light of their $168 million dollar investment in the world’s largest solar tower in the Mojave Desert, it’s clear that Google’s sunny disposition towards renewables is here to stay. Google and IBM, both the best things ever. If they joined forces, god knows what would be done. BTW Here is the history of the future world overlords http://www.google.com/about/corporate/company/history.html.
Google, a company that started off a simple webpage for some quick searching. In the age of the search engine boom, it prevailed. Now that they're ahead in the stabalized(low competition) market; they're still king. And they're the only search engine that i'll ever know, thats been putting so much more money into other services like this. I love you sometimes google. Sometimes you piss me off. But you're still the cleanest corporation out there.
They aren't a search engine for ages. They are something significantly bigger, and pretty much global.
I was on the internet before google came around. I was sitting there pissing away time with ask jeeves, or lycos. Then Google came out and saved my ass from that point forward. They're a search engine to me, but with larger projects that span far away from their roots. Which is quite nontraditional for any company.

In the future we will be living in homes built by Google, using specially designed materials developed by Google, running off electricity coming from Google power plants, water coming from Google pumps. Both Internet and TV will be supplied by Google, and our farms would be Google run. Even our toilets will have the Android operating system. I for one welcome our new Google overlords.

I hope Google takes over the world.
What's with all the awesome solar power stuff lately?
What's with all the awesome solar power stuff lately?
Well, theres this big fucking sun in the sky, and no one is using it very efficiently. Also we're going to have to start using alternative fuels some time, why not develop those before we run out of oil and be ready for it.
