Marshall has been known for its quality amps for decades, and recently has branched out into smaller items: headphones, speakers ... and now a smartphone toting the brand's familiar textured vinyl finish. The Marshall London is a mid-to-low-range Android phone with some welcome extra features and a tasteful design inspired by the classic amps.
In addition to the textured finish (it's not actually vinyl) on the back and sides, the London is equipped with two headphone ports, so you can share music with a friend. Have more than one friend? Use the extra-large front-facing speakers — don't expect the sound to go to 11, though. And instead of a tacky volume rocker, you get a cool physical dial. It's got a bunch of custom music and DJing software as well.
Can't deny the thing looks like a great device for music people. I mean: two headphone ports.
Also why has it taken so long for front facing speakers on smartphones to be a thing? You'd think people realized how shitty having a tiny speaker facing the back of your phone was the second they tried to use it.
Came to this thread to see if it looked anything like the amp itself.
Was not disappointed at all. Good looking phone
I'm going to need to replace my iPhone soon probably and if this wasn't $600 I'd seriously consider it if it had good audio quality and shit.
Marshall headphones are also great sounding. Also sound very good plugged into amps
Marshall branded stuff is great, but the brandname imposes a harsh tax so it usually isnt worth it.

Are you kidding me?
HTC has been doing it since 2013,
Nice to see that it appears to come with a nearly untouched Lollipop ROM.
I won't buy a phone again when it has a ROM which is bloated to hell and back, and has 0 support for custom ROMs.

I know HTC started doing it and more than a few manufacturers have followed (My Droid Turbo, for example has one), but 2013 wasn't that long ago - hell the Samsung Galaxy's speaker is still on the back of the phone in a tiny little corner.
I remember seeing an advertisement for the HTC One where it was the first front facing speaker (That I knew about) and the only thing I could think of was "Where the hell has this idea been?"
what a load of crap
this is about as dumb as that pono thing. who would ever need two headphone jacks on a smartphone
[editline]17th July 2015[/editline]
it's gonna use the same ampdacs as every other smartphone out there. guaranteed
Should have made the headphone jacks tube driven

I've got a good phone but I'm not always taking a splitter with me just in case someone happens to come along that I want so share something with.

people with friends would understand the need for two headphone jacks
$600 for specs that terrible is kind of pathetic. the aesthetics are nice and all but not 300 extra dollars nice
they really could've done something different that would fit into ths niche that has been empty since the ipod classic. hell, something even more barebones than that i would buy, as long as it had a nice DAC and ludicrous storage space, like 512gb with support for multiple microSD cards. wouldn't even need a touchscreen, just some physical buttons and a little LCD screen. no wifi or anything, just purely for playing music you already have. i'd easily be okay with spending over $200 on something like that.
I fucking hate how phones have company logos on the front
Please leave them on the back they're 99.99% of the time an eyesore

I think the hardware is pretty ugly tbh.

These split the audio into left and right.
These split the audio into left and right.
uhh, not always. that one does (it was the first google result) but if you search specifically for stereo splitters you get ones that don't do that for not much more if anything at all. i have one and i use it pretty often
a lot of people carry their charger cables with them. surely carrying a small cable splitter is a better idea than spending money on a shitty snake oil phone if you don't want to split one pair of earphones

I really like the way it looks, plus two headphone ports isn't a bad thing
Shame it's got pretty "eh" specs

Specs are pretty meaningless with smartphones these days. As long as it isn't low end it's gonna perform fine.
True, purely going off specs alone the iPhone is decidedly mid-range, yet its still one of the best phones to actually use.
I haven't seen a single review that doesn't suggest the iPhone has top-of-the-line hardware (ignoring the RAM(...)). Where are you getting your performance figures?
That's a nice looking render.
Well it's very common nowadays for electronics to have similarly good looking renders.
One side of it is hidden but if it calls itself a music oriented smartphone it better have physical buttons
I fucking hate getting my phone out of my pocket/bag just to skip a track

They add bezel space, which most smart phones seem to reduce as much as possible.
Interesting, I have some Marshall Majors, my second pair actually seeing as my first was stolen ):, and I'd be interested in a Marshall phone. Anything's better then my current phone.
