Twenty volunteers were immunised in the United States. Scientists at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) described the results as "promising". The research is published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). None of those immunised suffered major side-effects and all produced antibodies. Dr Anthony Fauci of the NIH told the BBC: "On safety and on the ability to produce an appropriate immune response we can call this trial an unqualified success, even though it was an early Phase One trial."
Commence rich Americans' "WHEN CAN I GET ONE"
This is a good step toward eradicating ebola, hopefully it can be provided to those in need at an affordable cost
-snip, nvm, tired-
So does that mean that the people screaming about how "The West" is behind ebola so they can X crazy stupid conspiracy thing will fuck off now?
Mother nature can go suck a dick You think a little disease can seriously do anything to humanity? pfft
Well I mean the plague did its fair share back in the day :v:
This is a good step toward eradicating ebola, hopefully it can be provided to those in need at an affordable cost
Ehh, I dunno if Ebola is going to be an eradication candidate for a long time. Two diseases have been eradicated (Smallpox and rinderpest) and two are damn close (polio and Guinea worm) and that's mostly possible due to only having the one species they can reproduce in. Ebola is in monkeys and bats and shit.

Very refreshing to hear some genuine good news for a change. Will be nice to see the world heal from the damage and fear Ebola has created. Makes me hopeful for a world where we can vaccinate for HIV.
Was it in development for a long time now or did this cure get through development and testing stages ridiculously quick?
Of course not.
They'll just lay low and find something else to get into. (Spoilers, it's not gonna be pussy)
Was it in development for a long time now or did this cure get through development and testing stages ridiculously quick?
We were supposed to have an ebola vaccine done and in testing by last spring, but the government shutdown sort of killed it. This is that.
This is a good step toward eradicating ebola, hopefully it can be provided to those in need at an affordable cost
Ebola cannot be eradicated for the same reason that yellow fever, rabies, and other zoonotic diseases can't be eradicated. Its life-cycle is not limited to humans. Smallpox could be eradicated because it exclusively affected humans, and an eradication campaign would consist of simply vaccinating the hell out of everything and everyone until no more cases were reported. However, this is definitely a step to neutralize this horrible disease.
So does that mean that the people screaming about how "The West" is behind ebola so they can X crazy stupid conspiracy thing will fuck off now?
Nope, they'll just change tack and start claiming that Ebola was manufactured so that drug companies could make $$
Well I mean the plague did its fair share back in the day :v:
Yeah when the height of medical technology was a jar of leeches and a mask full of flowers.
Well I mean the plague did its fair share back in the day :v:
It did do a number on us, but that was when Mother Nature made a big mistake. It left us alive. And we came back kicking hard.
Another national debate of if vaccines cause autism incoming. There is going to be so much stupid following this.
It did do a number on us, but that was when Mother Nature made a big mistake. It left us alive. And we came back kicking hard.
Yup, kicking down all things enviormental during the industrial revolution
Another national debate of if vaccines cause autism incoming. There is going to be so much stupid following this.
Unlikely, there's no reason to administer the vaccine on any kind of large scale in the West
Another national debate of if vaccines cause autism incoming.
