Passengers onboard a Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH9709 from Nanjing to Guangzhou on Sunday complained that two parents allowed their child to defecate in the back of the cabin.
This happened despite both bathrooms on the plane being vacant at the time, according to witnesses cited in a NetEase News report.
A flight attendant reportedly saw the child soiling the area in the back of the cabin before the plane took off, with the mother and another relative happily propping the kid up as if they were in a squat toilet.
When asked why she didn't get the child to use the bathroom instead, the mother answered, "Your bathrooms are too small, the three of us can't get in. It's so spacious out here!"
Grossly enough, this isn't the first case of its kind. A Chinese family made headlines last summer after they reportedly allowed their child to do his business in the cabin aisle of a Delta Airlines fight from Beijing to the US. In 2013, a mainland Chinese mother caused a scene after she was photographed letting her son take a squat on the floor at a Taiwan airport.
Chinese tourists don't necessarily have the cleanest track record when it comes to non-poop-related travel horror stories, either.
What is wrong with these people. Jesus fucking christ.

My only "first encounter" with Chinese tourists so far was on a plane from Mexico DF to Vegas, last year. 3 and a half hours of a little brat (probably around 5-6 years old) sitting on the seat behind me, being loud and kicking my seat every 20 seconds. I could swear they talked the ENTIRE trip, not a moment of silence. Thank goodness my phone still had some battery left so I drowned out his moaning with music... but seriously, what in the ever-loving fuck is wrong with them, not 1 shred of decency! :/
I don't understand.
I don't understand.
There is nothing to understand, it defies logic... :/
That's revolting.

The mother insisted 3 people needed to be in the room for a kid who looks like could go alone. Airplane bathrooms are basically closets with toilets. Needless to say these ideas clash

I want to make a comment about Chinese helicopter parents here...
Chinese tourists are terrible and I hope I never have to run into them again.
They literally act like the world revolves around them and this is just yet another example.

I heard from someone from Hong Kong that mainlanders sometimes let their kids shit in the streets.

Yeah, I remember reading up that they're so bad, they actually have pamphlets that says what they can or can't do in other countries, most of which are basic human decencies that everyone else in every other country already knew.

Can't agree more, the gun range I went to last time, there were like 10-15 Chinese tourists taking up one lane PLAYING WITH THE FUCKING RENTAL GUNS and laughing about it and speaking mandarin, and pointing the guns at each other.
Can't stand them, I don't know why the Range officer didn't try to stop that bullshit.
Chinese tourists from mainland China are pretty bad, Hong Kong ones are not as bad. Chinese tourists who have been westernized enough don't do this shit at all.
It's pretty embarrassing but yeah, people do stupid things.
I honestly don't understand. How old is this kid and even still why would you need both parents with you just to take a dump?
I've read that they believe it's bad for you to hold it in... as a result, they end up shitting everywhere. Apparently it's costumary for the lower Chinese classes, but as they became wealthier, they're practically the "Beverly Hillbillies", except they make the actual Beverly Hillbillies look like the most polite people ever.

Have a communistic system where you have to be selfish or starve followed by a push towards westernization that creates a generation that want their children (and themselves) to have everything and have the means to make that a reality. Than add in some ancient chinese superstitions based on nothing.
What a nice mix. Its like a new generation of super baby boomers has been unleashed onto the world.
What a grand case of sociopathic behavior from this narcissistic family, spreading disease on an airplane no less, disgusting.
This reminds me of a time someone dropped a duce on the Canada Line.
i wish they shit while there was turbulence

Not buying it (entirely). Rich Chinese people believe rhino horns improve your sexual performance... and shark fin soup is supposed to be a delicacy due to its exclusiveness.
And let's not talk about their "ancient tradition" of flaying dogs alive for human consumption.
If anything, most of the Chinese culture, while rich and incredibly fascinating, can be mind-blowingly archaic at times.

doubt it, they probably thought it was completely normal
this is what happens when a country industrializes and modernizes so quickly that airports are within walking distance to shack villages

Didn't one guy got banned/thread closed for discussing about this.
Wait, 1 thread I posted about Chinese tourists got closed too.
I'm not sure what's the reasoning, but it is indeed true, Chinese tourists are fucking terrible.
How is having a friend in the bathroom going to help, let alone two?!

It seems to be a big sample size. Many extremes fit into it, but I'm not sure it wholly explains their poor reputation.
As a Chinese American, I definitely agree that tourists from China and Taiwan have no manners. I was at an airport waiting for my flight and I sat facing a large Chinese family and they were loudly shouting racial slurs in Chinese and their kids kept running into other folks waiting and bothering them. In addition, they kept staring at me and that made me really uncomfortable.
German tourists are prolly the least annoying. Just awkwardly dressed pensioners.
Polish tourists don't exist cause we so poor

I've always seen Brot tourists as the nicest. They're the most likely to chat with me at work and always seem the most interested in my stories.
From experience too the stereotype for me is Indian tourists are the worst. They rarely wish to converse with anyone and when they do they just act in a way that makes it look like they're in a perpetual state of moody despite being on vacation.
Chinese tourists haven't been so bad though a lot of them are probably used to American culture given my city's diversity. The worst one I've had was a Chinese company trip where they pulled up in 12 disel spewing tour buses. All the engines were idling the entire time and it was legit hard to breathe while being in the position outside the building.

lol no, rhino horns are not an aphrodisiac, they're prescribed for their "cooling" effect, and even then they are falling out of favour nowadays with TCM practitioners. The biggest market today for rhino horn is Vietnam, where they believe it can cure cancer and other ailments because a politician was rumoured to have been cured of his cancer after consuming rhino horn. There is also no tradition of flaying dogs alive, they are raised and slaughtered like any other farm animal in China.
Way to demonstrate your cultural awareness.

It's strange because out of my graduate class of 200 students, about 80% are Asian (the vast majority of those being Chinese) and are generally extremely polite and reserved, while the few Germans we have are all oddly rude and abrasive... not obnoxious, but quite condescending in conversation.
Personally I've only had bad expiriences with Tourists from Holland, although that was one time so it doesn't really mean anything.

It really depends. In Some locations like Mallorca or Crete or certain Italian coasts you will always get the bottom trash people and even I as a German feel very wrong in those places.
Fremdschämen is a word here.(to be ashamed for someone)
