It's more portable and easier to carry than most laptops and has a touchscreen and a pen that can be used with it (which is pretty handy)

You can use it as a tablet while it's actually running an x86 OS, meaning you can run all kinds of production software on it without need of a special port. Also you can attach a keyboard on it when you need to actually write things and not faff about with onscreen keyboards.

This mostly applies for corporate environments but still.

It has pisspoor battery life for a tablet, it weighs twice that of any other tablet, it takes up more space than an 11"ultra book when deployed, has a tiny, high-resolution screen which is fucked up by Windows' shitty DPI scaling, oh and it gets really fucking hot and you have to cough up $130 for a useable keyboard cover

Whether of not I own an iPad is irrelevant to the fact that the surface pro is trash.

The Surface Pro is a weird in-between that does everything but not as well as more focused products, like dedicated laptops and tablets. The battery life is barely sufficient for something that wants to be some sort of tablet. The Surface RT has excellent battery life, but is limited by the Windows App Market.

Despite all the bad things about the Surface Pro, the video in the OP makes me want one really fucking badly.

The Surface Pro is perfect for having a computer you could carry around anywhere and dock into various places and screens, I suppose.

iPads are good for actually using on the go, since the battery life can be near limitless depending on what you do with it.

They are both great in their own ways, and the choice depends on which non-laptop you want to throw your money at.

When I read "silent unboxing" I thought it would be one of those really nice videos where there's no talking or anything and the only thing you hear is the absolutely wonderful sounds of cardboard sliding and paper being ripped and stuff like that, it's almost relaxing
