Several have a man with a residence permit in Denmark, who has since married the minors and got her to Denmark to seek asylum. They are allowed to stay together on weekends, says communications consultant Lars Vestergaard from Vesthimmerland Municipality for Metro.
- We have had 3-4 cases of 15-16 year-old girls who have come here for their adult spouses. Here Immigration placed them on our children's center, where they can visit their husbands. They can be allowed to go on a weekend with him, he told Metro.
Bad translation but I checked with someone who speaks the language and essentially, Danish asylum centers allow refugees to sleep with their child brides on weekends.
I want more sources on this. Not just ignoring, but flat out enabling and allowing pedophilia to continue sounds like a fascist wet dream, the perfect argument against allowing any foreigner into the country.

Clicked the article expecting 8 to 10 years younger than that.

Yeah. Those outlets are pretty sensationalistic. They live off of generating false controversies. Usually about Amalie or Linse Kessler not wearing any panties while out drinking or misleading children by spinning political shitstorms. Which outlets does that remind everyone of?

Wait what? I barely see that in the MX paper. (The one in the train stations and Fakta and shit. Other than those two celebrity pages they have which I skip.)
They usually just masturbate over innovators in their 20's and younger.
Surely you can be married under the age of 18 in denmark anyway, with parental/governmental permission.

Perhaps it'd be best if they weren't in the childrens centers.

You probably need to look up the definition of pedophilia.

I guess it depends on how old the husband is. The girl might be legal, but when the husband is twice her age and she was forced into marriage, it's still creepy as fuck.
At age 15 or 16, they definitely aren't child brides. And at 15 or 16, they're of legal age in most of Europe and also many US states.

Unfortunately how "creepy" something is doesn't play into the letter of the law.

Yeah, creepy. Not illegal though.

I don't think 13 is too young because of American 'traditions'.
I think 13 is too young because they're still fricken children.

I don't disagree with the mindset, but to say its anything but our deeply rooted Puritan heritage is just plain ignorant

The age of consent in some parts of Europe is fourteen years old. It's a young age, but it's old enough for the person to be considered capable of making their own decisions and standing by them.
It also doesn't mean it's socially acceptable for grown ups to sleep with them but that doesn't make it any less legal.
Calling this "child brides" and whatnot is just a really dumb move to demonize these people further. They're not clean of problems and they're stirring up a lot of shit but that's no reason to make things up just to make them seem worse than they are.

The puritanism is still quite strong. Kinda why two teenagers having sex is two teenagers raping eachother and why you still have abstinence only education in public schools.

Even if it's legal for two teenagers to have sex in the US through some stupid law (which would not even be necessary if the age of consent wasn't so high in many states), there's still the issue of sex ed which is very poorly handled and does not prepare anyone adequately.
totes
do you have a point by referencing a type of law that only exists in some areas?
totes
1. Romeo and Juliet laws only apply in some areas, and often only under very strict conditions.
2. Teenagers being charged with possession and/or distribution of child pornography for sexting is not covered under any circumstances
3. Sex education is still usually very backwards "What Would Jesus Do?" sort of stuff
The idea that adolescents = helpless, innocent children and sex = bad is very much prevalent in US law and, in my opinion, is a very harmful and dated mindset.
do you have a point by referencing a type of law that only exists in some areas?
yes :)
I just think it's really overboard to say that "puritanism is still strong" and that "teenagers having sex = rape" according to people when conservative bastions like utah or texas have romeo and juliet laws.
Sex Ed needs work, though.
