G'day all, just wondering if there are any Australian FP members out there interested in Airsoft. Currently in Australia Airsoft Taggers are currently unobtainable under state and federal law.
However, there is currently a group called the Australian Airsoft council ( www.airsoftcouncil.com.au ) and they are pushing for Airsoft here in Aus for some time. They have been discussing
the issue with State and federal leaders for sometime over the topic, but now it seems more promising with the new government currently coming into power.
I apologies if this seems like advertising to some, but the AAC is currently the only airsoft movement here in Australia. If there are any airsoft lovers Australian or over seas, it would be greatly
appreciated if you could visit the site, or even the Facebook page. Numbers matter, showing the government that there are people interested in Airsoft will help.

Interesting.
I like to think so.
I'm an Australian and I'm also interested in airsoft. I've already joined the AAC awhile ago.
I'm curious to know if you've joined for the AAC membership in your state.

Have you got a link to the website?
How much did it cost? (p/year)

I paid for 12 month membership, which is $20, but I also got a AAC shirt which rounds it up to $40.
austrailia should have similar airsoft laws that the UK has. i.e two tone guns so that kids dont get shot.
Or properly teach kids that you don't take realistic looking replicas in public, only play on insured fields and nobody gets shot instead of making you jump through hoops to get guns that don't look like nerf.
I would think Australia would have tons of land to airsoft in
think of the possibilities…
but everything in Australia wants to kill you
think of the dangers

There is a large amount of potential. A lot of really cool paintball fields here in NSW that would also be perfect for airsoft.
There is still legislation floating around NSW by Barry O'Fuckall, which seeks to allow the purchase and use of air pistols, and air rifles against non-native/invasive species.
The terminology is vague enough to allow airsoft guns.

This is just a bill, not law.

Not how our laws work.
It is perfectly legal to buy a realistic firearm however the UKARA has introduced a system that is based around making sure people are actually into airsoft before you buy a realistic gun. You have to play three times within a period of two months and be over 18 to buy a RIF. Australia should go our way with airsoft if they are worried about it.

Couple o' corrections to ease the headache for any new airsofters reading (it definitely seems complicated if you aren't in the know)...

It is legal for you to buy a RIF at at-least 18 years old but not to sell one to you unless you have a legitimate exemption as a buyer, for professional reenactment, filmmaking, museum exhibition or skirmishing purposes (the latter of which is achieved easiest through UKARA's exemption). To qualify for a UKARA exemption you first need to play at a UKARA-approved game site a total of three or more times over a period of more than two months.
