http://www.gamespot.com/shows/gamespot-live/?event=mgr_revengeance_trailer_premiere Behold, as Raiden goes GTA on a highway while talking about how he gets off to dismemberment! [sp]Im actually looking forward to the game, probably going to pre-order for the sexy gray fox skin[/sp]
This trailer is terrible... Not Raiden's personality whatsoever, his dialogue is completely lame, and it looks like a generic hack and slash repetitive action game.
God I can't wait for this one more month
you get to slice shit in half so idc
That trailer is terrible... Not Raiden's personality whatsoever. The environment also does not suit the MGS series whatsoever, seems almost Devil May Cryish with the music and what not... Maybe if I get out of the perspective of it being a MGS sequel it will be good. Not going to get over the dialogue though... It is just retarded.
Its not MGS. Its MGR. Do you people forget the series as a whole is the Metal Gear series, not Metal Gear Solid? [editline]14th January 2013[/editline] MG1 was an action game with stealth as the focus, MG2 was like a 2d version of the first MGS, same with ghost babel, MGA and MGA2 were stealth card games. [editline]14th January 2013[/editline] And this game also has stealth, before you say it. Theres cardboard boxes, drum cans, controllable dwarf gekko/scarabs, and a wooden sword for non-lethal kills. [editline]14th January 2013[/editline] Also Gray Fox. Gray Fox is awesome.
If they just made the game about Grey Fox, the game would be interesting to me. I just don't like Raiden as a character and he's uninteresting. When not even a fucking head on ramming from a ship can stop you, you're a bullshit mary sue.
That voice acting is Resident Evil tier. [editline]15th January 2013[/editline]
If they just made the game about Grey Fox, the game would be interesting to me. Also, Why is everyone a Robot?
The 'evil' Raiden sounds too dumb; trying way to hard to sound like Snake.
Also, Why is everyone a Robot?
because it's the future loving the gamespot comments. "since when is raiden a psychopath?" since fucking forever. did some people never get to the end of MGS2? kid had the worst childhood ever and was raised as a killer. this story is the story of raiden regressing. however, i see these cutscenes don't necessarily reflect what gameplay style you choose. if you go for a non-kill run, if possible, does raiden still talk about ripping people to shreds?

Raidens been OP since MGS2. He took out 30 MG Ray's for gods sake.
I watched part of the trailer, was interesting until i saw gameplay. I am not looking forward to this, it doesn't even fit in as being a spin-off of MGS.
I watched part of the trailer, was interesting until i saw gameplay. I am not looking forward to this, it doesn't even fit in as being a spin-off of MGS.
Explain to me how you would make a game about a Cyborg Ninja with a sword that could through anything play.
It looks just as underwhelming as it usually does.
I watched part of the trailer, was interesting until i saw gameplay. I am not looking forward to this, it doesn't even fit in as being a spin-off of MGS.
Theres Stealth too. Boxes, Drumbarrels, an alert system.
I guess you could call it a spin-off. But I hate any sort of hack n slash combat, i tend to move away from stealth and take care of at least some enemies, to make being stealthy easier, but having to go into a hack n slash type of game every time i get spotted is a major reason why i won't get this. When i first heard of this, i kinda wanted it, because i was also hoping it would be similar to MGS in that battles would be fairly short, and not cycling through enemies combo after combo. I was hoping that normal enemies would be fairly easy to dispatch, but would be more capable of killing you. Sorta like how in all other MGS games, Snake, both Solid and Naked, could take out enemies one by one unless spotted, upon which would be at a massive disadvantage until hidden again. The part where the police put away their guns and switched to steel batons after stating that lethal force is authorized was so ridiculous, it was just an excuse for a sword fight.

This is a game for hack n' slash fans from the developer that does it best. When DmC exists, Revgengeance is here to save the day.
Also, Why is everyone a Robot?
Because when the only two cyborgs that have been built so far both perform leagues better than any Metal Gear ever built, everyone with an army is going to want their own.

Sure many will enjoy the gameplay, but there's gonna be alot of disappointed people when it comes to gameplay. I knew from the start that it wasn't going to be the same as MGS. But i expected the gameplay to be at least half-way serious. As i said in my post, i was hoping for something like the VR Ninja missions from the VR Mission pack for MGS1. You could kill anyone instantly, yet if you got spotted, you were very vulnerable. Considering how everyone is going to be a cyborg in this game, everyone will have thermal vision and would render a stealth system useless, unless raiden could actively cool his organic face to ambient temps too. I didn't want it to be completely instakill against enemies, seeing as in MGS2, where you couldn't just cut a Tengu in half, and it was even explained. With the improved tech, then they could absorb some damage to an extent, but eventually this system would fail, or run out of power, after a few hits, and would allow you to cleave em apart. Actually it's already like that, but it's too strong. 3-4 hits is too much. 2-3 is a little more in line with the main series. Sorry for writing massive walls of text, but it seems i have to do so in order for people to take me seriously.

Yeah, but they moved on because those were spinoff games. Like this.
Didn't platinum game said this game was non cannon so you should not give a fucking shit about what it represent for the serie's story?
Didn't platinum game said this game was non cannon so you should not give a fucking shit about what it represent for the serie's story?
It's canon, but it won't affect any existing or future Metal Gear titles unless it gets a direct sequel. If MGS6 were to take place after MGS4 it would involve different people doing something completely unrelated.
Didn't platinum game said this game was non cannon so you should not give a fucking shit about what it represent for the serie's story?
I don't remember this being said anywhere; they said it's a spinoff of Raiden from the Solid series, not that it's non-canon.
The thing that I've been noticing about these trailers are just how bizarrely formatted they are. Like the random flashing of REVENGEANCE, the weird out of context dialogue that doesn't quite fit, making it seem like the trailer's ending when it's only halfway through... It's just... strange.
Why couldn't this game just be about grey fox no one cares about Raiden.
Why couldn't this game just be about grey fox no one cares about Raiden.
Because Greyfox was kind of squashed by REX and they have more to work with when using Raiden and a post-patriots era world.
