BATTLE CREEK, Mich.- A teenager who was carrying a fake gun was shot by a Battle Creek Police Officer on Saturday afternoon.According to the police department, a 911 call came in that Nick King, 14, was walking near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Upton Street while carrying a pistol. The caller continued to say that King took off into the bushes toward the Drive Thru Party Store. On the way to the scene, police reported that dispatch told them King had gone inside the store. When they arrived, they found the teenager in the driveway and ordered him to show his hands. That’s when they said King displayed what appeared to be a ’large caliber handgun.’ The officer fired one shot. King dropped the gun and took off on foot, according to officers at the scene. The BCPD said the officers found the suspect a short distance from the store and that he had a single gunshot wound. King was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Why is it so hard to just do what police ask you to do? Any sensible person is taught to do what ever the fuck a cop asks you to do.
When a cop yells "drop the gun" at you. Drop WHATEVER you are fucking holding. There is no "if, ands, or buts" about it.
There are several pieces of information missing. The kid displayed the gun. How did he display it? Did he aim at the police officer? That would explain why the police officer didn´t tell him to drop the weapon. But it isn´t explicitly stated so I don´t know. Maybe he told him to drop the weapon and he didn´t comply. And I would also like to see a picture of the fake weapon. This article is not very informative about the incident itself. Is it Breakyourfac?
He shouldn't have tried to rob people in the first place and despite not being told to drop his weapon, when they ordered him to show his hands, he should have dropped it and surrendered. But at the same time, nothing's going to be solved by pointing fingers anywhere. The officer must have felt a reasonable level of threat and acted accordingly, and the kid who got shot should have listened to them. If he had, he'd not be in a hospital right now. edited: whoops
Where is it stated that the police officer said "Drop the gun"?

When they arrived, they found the teenager in the driveway and ordered him to show his hands.
The article is still short and unclear though but take that as you will
Also the article doesn't mention anything about the kid being in a critical condition, where did that come from?
Somehow I doubt he's in critical condition if he was able to take off.
Where did the headline even come from? The OP?
Somehow I doubt he's in critical condition if he was able to take off.
As if Bloodloss doesn't do anything.
Somehow I doubt he's in critical condition if he was able to take off.
Somehow I doubt you know much about the reality of gunshot wounds.
And I would also like to see a picture of the fake weapon. When he did so, the officer saw that he was holding what appeared to be a large-caliber handgun, police said. The officer fired one shot, which struck the teen, who ran from the scene. Officers chased him and called for medical assistance. Saylor said they don’t believe the injuries are life-threatening. The boy’s name and his condition were not released Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening, police said they believed the boy would make a full recovery. Saylor gave this account of the events in the shooting late Saturday afternoon: He said officers were called at 11:57 a.m. for a man with gun. The caller told a 911 dispatcher a white man was walking on Upton Avenue near Washington Avenue with a woman and was carrying a gun. Officers arrived in the area at 12:01 p.m. and reported the male was running through some bushes toward the Drive Thru Party Factory at 250 S. Washington Ave. near Grove Street and was carrying what appeared to be handgun. The male entered the store but then came out and was crouching near the drive-through area of the store. The officer arrived, saw the person, and called for him to show his hands. Saylor said the investigation thus far shows that the teen produced what appeared to be a large-caliber handgun from his clothing. The officer fired a single shot and the teen dropped the gun and ran. Officers found him a short distance away and called for an ambulance. So the officer shot even though the kid put up his hands? What a dick.
Jesus Christ, this is about a kid in my area with the same name as my cousin. No worries, he's not 14 but I still flipped out.
Is it Breakyourfac?
fucking stop
fucking stop
For a guy that drones on and on about shit happening in his town, were you really not expecting someone to say it?
So the officer shot even though the kid put up his hands? What a dick.
Yeah, he put up his hands, problem was he had a gun in them.
So the officer shot even though the kid put up his hands? What a dick.
He was shot because when he "put up his hands", he had what was potentially a weapon in his hands.
fucking stop
What's funny is that it actually was Breakyourfac
Wishing death/fatal injury on someone who disagrees with your standpoint? Good job reaching a new low.
What the fuck is this even? What has this got to do with anything at fucking all? Do you really have that big a victim complex that any negative comment in a thread about guns is instantly an attack on you and "your people"?
Try reading.
Pretty sure I read. And understood it more than you clearly did. It's a play on everything in Michigan we hear about being from breakyourfac, not wishing he was actually fucking injured.
For a guy that drones on and on about shit happening in his town, were you really not expecting someone to say it?
I am pretty sure he stopped doing that a while ago. I have no idea why you people are so obsessed with him.
It sounds to me like the kid forgot he had it in his hand, and his brain just made him raise his hands as fast as possible because he had gun pointed at him by the cop, and the cop was in extreme stress and fired instantly. I think that the cop saw the kid aiming a gun at him, even though he was just raising his hands up while forgetting to let go of the fake gun. Basically, I think as soon as the cop saw it he fired.

It absolutely is his fault, and that's the risk he took by taking the fake gun out into the world and brandishing it. That doesn't change the possibility of it going down the way I think it did. I don't think the kid pointed the gun I think he just simply did as he was told without thinking and didn't let go of it in his pocket.
