CNN Edits Out Vicious On-Air Dispute with Christiane Amanpour

If this is the kind of brutal frankness we could expect from unedited Cable News, then maybe it would be worth watching.
Russia’s state-funded cable news channel is taking aim at CNN for inviting an RT host to discuss Kremlin politics but editing out her fierce criticisms of the American cable outlet.
In the Know host Anissa Naouai appeared last week on Christiane Amanpour‘s CNN International nightly talk show to defend her network against accusations that it is part of Russian President Vladimir Putin‘s “propaganda war.” The conversation apparently took a drastic turn for the worse when the guest went after the host’s personal connections to the U.S. Department of State.
Ultimately, Amanpour told Naouai, the most contentious bits were unworthy of airtime and would certainly be edited out. In response to the edits, RT posted the full transcript along with its half of Naouai’s satellite feed, showing her answers that were omitted from the final product.
Well that's not journalism.

CNN is a company. No company is going to have somebody on their network trash-talk them. Yeah, it's shitty, but it's sort of expected.
Host: "You're a shill."
Guest: "No, You're a shill!"
Host: "No u"

Cameraman: "Shit Joe. I told you this would happen, they've gone into a loop, this segment is blown."
Producer: "Damn, It'll be another hour before they come to."

I'm starting to wonder if the ideal model of journalism is being practiced by anyone at all.

Unless your ideal journalism is "get more viewers any way possible", then no, not by anyone.
"we're going to edit out a competing new's organisation's interview, it's not like they'll upload the entire thing"

that's literally all that CNN does
wolf blitzer pretends to be intelligent while bringing "analysts" to come talk loudly over eachother (and thus render the whole thing incomprehensible) about a controversial topic
Interesting how most of the American public will ignore this censoring and continue to believe whatever is fed to them while thinking they have the most trustworthy news. As much as RT is disliked here, it is good to broaden your sources of information in order to get the big picture.

I honestly don't know if CNN's false equivalence problems are better or worse than Fox's daily garbage.

Some state-owned news agencies (with management and reporting that are autonomous from government interference) seem to do pretty well. ABC news here does not hesitate airing anything that mocks current and former state and federal governments, and the programs of ABC news often feature guest speakers from all sides of politics. As they are government funded, they do not have to appease shareholders and sponsors. I've also heard good things about the BBC as well.
