It's that time of year, when snow starts to fall and the spirit of giving is in the air. The artists are drawing and the citizens of Paint town fill the sidewalks and continue to their jobs. All getting ready for the holidays. Alright guys, I've decided to start another one of these threads. The rules: 1)I want to keep this fairly serious. But not retardedly strict. 2)No 2 second Shit, Put some effort into your drawings. 3)Be creative with this, Don't let it die out from it being bland and worn out. Inspire other to contribute! 4)When posting NSFW keep in media tags. 5)No crappy memes. Alright then now I guess it's time to get started!
I feel like this deserves more effort, but at least I put some in...
2)No 2 second Shit, Put some effort into your drawings.
Looking at those 2 pics you started this off with makes me think that isn't serious. You can still mod your OP with something better than that. Effort breeds effort and that won't bring you anything back. You've just flood filled some solid shapes and blown some white lines over it. Come back with something better and I'll dump a drawing in out of good will.

The OP looks like some effort was put into it, and It doesn't look like a pile of crap. I don't really see a problem.
JD is completely right though, it's a couple of lines drawn (and without any regard of making it look anywhere near realistic), filled with colour and then some random white lines. [editline]13th December 2010[/editline] I think more time has to be spent on the OP. The OP sets the standard for the thread. :9
Look guys, we've seen threads with terrible original content that became quite good over time. How about instead of playing the "I'm-a-better-artist-than-you-here's-a-user-challenge" card on EVERY SINGLE NEW THREAD, do something constructive. Either post some good content that improves the thread as a whole, or ignore the thread and hope that other people make it better. Give it a chance, don't buzzkill it right away.

I mostly lurk nowadays, but I used to contribute from time to time back when my tablet still worked, around the time when the World Wide Brawl was still in full swing. That's actually the topic that made me join Facepunch. Good times. And don't get me wrong, I absolutely respect the people here who are good artists. However, I can't help but notice that this place is becoming increasingly hostile towards people who don't work up to the standards of the dozen or so best artists in the board.
Seriously? Those user-challanges are constructive in case you didn't notice. They are there to help the artist improve themselves. No one said he or she was a better artist than the OP. Just because you are not good at drawing doesn't mean you are entitled to post effortless shit, we can easily tell if someone, who isn't good at drawing, has taken some effort in drawing their pieces. In the picture of the OP, regardless of being a good or a bad artist, I can easily tell that there is barely any effort put into it. Look at the picture and what do you see? I see five colours, uneven oddly shaped buildings and a few white scribbles. Second picture, I see seven colours with uneven oddly shaped buildings, a few strange shapes in the windows, a disproportionate man/woman and another few white sprayed scribbles. Do you call that effort?
Yes, that is my character I used in Dec 09 but now with 99% less stick figure!
It's not done yet, but I decided to post it already anyway.
Oh look I get to post my gay christmas shit again.

OP content should really show a degree of effort to expect the rest of us to throw in. Content is coming in, thread can deliver but it's sad when OP doesn't. Crossu starts threads with minimum effort, nothing personal.

You know what guys? I actually really really liked the op. I mean, sure it isn't the Mona Lisa, but simple pictures like this are NOT crap and in fact can be very nice. I like the OP. I posted this already but here you have it again, some winter cheer:
i like the sausage one better
You mean the one I posted? haw
dammit spud
Here's my contribution after thirty minutes and not having enough inspiration to put in a background. Then again, if there's supposed to be a consistent story or something, whoops:
Damnit, This thread isn't working like I planned. [editline]14th December 2010[/editline] I did what I was able to to the OP. Dunno what I can do to make it any better, Criticism and advice would be much appreciated.
Put back the old pictures they were way better.
have all the pictures the old ones were interesting in a simple yet quirky way. it's not high-detail, but who says art is one predefined style?
have all the pictures the old ones were interesting in a simple yet quirky way. it's not high-detail, but who says art is one predefined style?
I do, for I am the master of art.

Use some colder colours. For your buildings you can use a vanishing point to get your perspective right, also give the buildings some detail. The white scribbles you used before can be used again to create a blizzard, but try to give these more attention, don't just take the pencil tool and draw a few crooked 1 pixel lines. If I were I would drop the black lines, it will give it more of a cold/harsh look. (I also just updated my previous version of the snowman, I just left the explosion on the right side black, I tried colouring it but I just failed doing that. If anyone feels like colouring it, be my guest, I'll give you credit for it.)
Happy Holidays!
This is actually not a general art thread, The creative drawings thread is going to update with a christmas update. This is one of those threads that are supposed to be where Users draw characters and draw them doing actions and interacting with the world.
Thats would have been nice if you specified that bro
