Urbex - Old School Canteen - General

Now I did this ages ago, but since I didn't feel it was worth posting I didn't. Here we go. My school was closed in 2009 but demolition only started in about September 2010. I wanted to explore the whole thing but me and my friends were pussies so we didn't. By the end of it all, it was just one small building left standing. The canteen. We asked the security guard if we could have a look around, and he said "sure, just don't hurt yourselves". So it was torn down because it was old? Seems like it had a few problems, but nothing a few coats of paint and maintenance wouldn't fix. There are still some schools here from the early 60's and they're still in really good condition.

yeah it was a mid-60s building. It had been extended through many annexes and was under-capacity. It would have cost a substantial amount to repair to bad roofs, failing electrics and other thugs so it was sold to a housing company and they built a nice new bland modern one.

Leave it to the government to treat kids more and more like prisoners in the system than giving them somewhere where they can remember that didn't suck.

actually, I had the time of my fucking life in that school. So many exploits with my friend there, silly teen stuff but still great fun.

Would this of happened to be the morven road site looked for the school on Wikipedia, it is becoming an estate

I'd love to go explore some place I used to go to all the time that has since fallen into disrepair. It'd be such an apocalyptic/nostalgic feeling.

Nice! I wish I could get inside, the old school that's like a block a way from my house... It's surrounded by over 6-foot construction fences and it's considered private property because it was bought to turn into an appartment complex... 4 years ago...
