Five teenagers died after they were involved in a crash on Saturday night which left others injured and a road closed for more than five hours. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2836508/Three-men-woman-die-two-people-seriously-hurt-two-car-crash.html I live near there and the fog was really bad last night. Remember, slow down in poor weather!
Gives me a chance to rant about those ignorant people that turn their high beams on, or worse yet the 4wd's with the massive spotlights that make the fog worse. They aren't fog lights if they are mounted high asshole, no one can see. It's not something that is taught when you get your license here, it really should be. Too many people don't know how to handle fog.
They crashed because they're teenagers and because of peer pressure. The fog isn't at fault here.

I drove two hours up the M1 yesterday doing less than normal speed ( about 50-60mph rather than 70 ) and the fog was horrendous, couldn't see anything yet there were loads of absolute twats doing 90+ and a young driver who didn't know how his lights were working driving up my arse with full beam on i got my girlfriend to write a message on my notepad and stick it in the back window saying "Full Beam is not fog lights, read your car manual you twat!" i just hope he saw it before i came off at the junction.
They crashed because they're teenagers and because of peer pressure. The fog isn't at fault here.
have you ever actually tried to drive a fucking car in heavy fog? just curious
They crashed because they're teenagers and because of peer pressure. The fog isn't at fault here.
How fucking deluded do you have to be to spout stuff like this and think it's in any way rational? Fog sucks, but like reevezy said, not enough people know how to properly deal with fog. I've seen way too many people put on their headlights instead of their fog lights.
This is how it gets around here: So you can imagine how bad it is at night
I wish I had front fog lights
I wish I had front fog lights
Fog lights hardly make a difference in my experience. Only the good yellow ones even seem to help.. White fog lights are useless and might even make things worse.
Fog lights hardly make a difference in my experience. Only the good yellow ones even seem to help.. Not that anyone uses it.

Hate drivers in this country.
Rear foglights? How does this help?
in bad conditions, it makes it easier for the car behind to notice and therefore brake earlier. I think the American driving theory test needs revising.
Rear foglights? How does this help?
It's an extra bright red light so you can see it from further away, required by law.
I read this as "Five teenagers die in car crash due to frog" (User was banned for this post ("stop with the "i read this as", nobody cares" - Orkel))
in bad conditions, it makes it easier for the car behind to notice and therefore brake earlier. I think the American driving theory test needs revising.
Nah. I learned in driving school that in fog, lights are there to help other people see you, not the other way around. You shouldn't use high beams when there is fog since it'll make it worse. Same thing with rain. Really, I just think that not everyone pays attention or not all driving instructors are good ones. The former I know happens... the latter I'm not so sure about.
Retards. When I was driving to one of Estonian islands early morning, the fog was so dense I couldn't see past 50m. I was scared shitless going more than 70 kmh on a 110 road, and while i think about it, it was still a bit too much. You never drive fast during a fog ever. Really sad way to go, but god fucking damn...
It's an extra bright red light so you can see it from further away, required by law.
They aren't required in America; the only car I know offhand that even came equipped with rear foglights is the Oldsmobile Aurora. Which is funny, because some areas (San Francisco, for example) get extremely heavy fog at regular intervals.
They crashed because they're teenagers and because of peer pressure. The fog isn't at fault here.
you what
Rear foglights? How does this help?
They're super bright and I wish more US cars had them
They crashed because they're teenagers and because of peer pressure. The fog isn't at fault here.
I know where this happened, and when I passed through yesterday I could barely see, their not at fault.
They crashed because they're teenagers and because of peer pressure. The fog isn't at fault here.
To everyone who is responding to this angrily, this is pretty fucking clearly a joke. They're making fun of how everybody immediately comes to the conclusion that teenagers are at fault whenever they're involved with something that goes wrong.
in bad conditions, it makes it easier for the car behind to notice and therefore brake earlier. I think the American driving theory test needs revising.
Nah, just most people here seem to memorize whatever answers they need to pass the test and then as soon as they get their license "Whew, don't need that junk anymore, time to make room for more Family Guy quotes!" I remember driving home from work one morning where it was still fairly dark, foggy as shit, couldn't see further than maybe 10 feet in front of me. I caught like a 2-second glimpse of some dipshit in a Corvette driving through the fog WITH NO LIGHTS ON AT ALL. More money than sense I suppose.

They're making fun of how everybody immediately comes to the conclusion that teenagers are at fault whenever they're involved with something that goes wrong.
That's why there's no indication that it's a joke, right? and they're talking like they're completely serious. Obviously a joke.
This is some Silent Hill bullshit.
we have a similar problem here with snow, everybody forgets about it till they're slid off the highway

Mine are for sure.
