Sony originally announced the Feb. 22 date - the launch comes more than three months after the PS4's North American release date on Nov. 15 - in September, with the console going for 39,980 yen by itself and 43,980 in a bundle with the PlayStation Camera. Sony Japan Studio's Knack comes initial allocations of the system.
About time. Thanks for testing the PS4 for us, America and UK. :v:
I don't understand how you don't release stuff in your home country first. Also that guy looks operator as fuck.
Happy it finally happened; though admittedly if I lived in japan I probably would have spent the money I'd spend on a ps4 on computer parts by now :v:
I don't understand how you don't release stuff in your home country first. Also that guy looks operator as fuck.
Apparently because no Japanese games were available on global launch, so they wanted to wait a bit to drive sales.
Looks like the launch was a success. Thank you Japan
I don't understand how you don't release stuff in your home country first. Also that guy looks operator as fuck.
They wanted to secure NA userbase to prevent Microsoft from getting a 6 million+ lead on them.
They wanted to secure NA userbase to prevent Microsoft from getting a 6 million+ lead on them.
yeah, they already have the home console race on lockdown in japan anyway. xbox barely gets sold there. so north america/uk was the more important launch
Apparently because no Japanese games were available on global launch, so they wanted to wait a bit to drive sales.
not to mention the console market is piss poor in japan compared to the mobile game market.
Ohhhhh thats what all the people were lining up for at Yodobashi last night...
What platform is the most popular in Japan? I don't ever hear much about consoles outside of Europe and North America. Not sure how to put it but do they have a certain market of only Japanese games on PC or mobiles?

The Xbox does exist here, but it isn't as popular as it is in the US. To be more exact, I'd say that the PlayStation is the most popular since it has a very wide variety of games here. Meanwhile, a launch date for Xbox One isn't even set here yet. :v:
poor japan why do those americans have to get stuff first
poor japan why do those americans have to get stuff first
That wasn't necessarily the case for PS1 game releases back in the mid to late 90's. Japan normally got the good stuff first.
poor japan why do those americans have to get stuff first
We're more important.
