Chet facebooked this and it looks quite neat.
Thanks a bunch for sharing redBadger!
It's quite an early version you're seeing, before we started doing proper level art and whatnot.
There's more to come for sure. Let me know if you wonder anything about the game!
god i can already see myself absolutely panicking as i try to escape a pursuing robot with a well-aimed shot through a vent. this is awesome.

The line where the woman says "you need to cover your tracks like a professional" as the guy playing shoves a robot body into a bin that doesn't close all the way was hilarious. Was that intentional?

I feel like I would panic and run straight into a wall. In real life.
love the locomotion method!
When people are faced with danger, they usually don't run into walls in reality! We thought this would be an issue, but most people tend to crouch, try to fire the translocator at the enemy, cover their face with their arms/controllers, and after a second or two realize that they can translocate!
(All of this while nervously laughing and semi-panicking)

So how exactly does the game work given the limited real life moving environment? Has it been a problem at any point or is the game designed in such a way that keep the user within a confined room space?
Kind of looks boring can we Get turret based game set in the starship troopers universe with the ability to play with friends

That's what your translocator is for! You get around the limited space that way, so your room-scale movements are only for short-range interactions, while the translocator allow you to move longer distances. Has worked really well so far!

No, but Unity has VR support, so you could be the first!

Are you being serious or are you making a some sort of joke?

Oh Valve...
Well, color me somewhat excited. That doesn't happen much anymore!
Great way of giving teleportation locomotion some context in the game. I imagine it gets a bit disorienting if things get hectic and you make a lot of subsequent jumps. But who knows, I tend to have better spatial awareness in VR so it might not be much of an issue.

People who have tested so far get used to it quickly, the same with having a cable running along your back. The inverse is more often a problem, where people expect a cable behind them when leaving VR, feeling a ghost cable ;)
Neat, kinda reminds me of the way you move using the Translocator in Unreal Tournement.

Yep, it was half of the equation for our locomotion! (UT Translocator + Portal)
We're also calling it the translocator in the game :)

From what little we saw in the trailer I'm getting the same cool isolated, minimalist vibes as the original portal gave me. I'm digging that and the spytech inspirations a lot.
Any particular inspirations you would cite beyond UT and Portal?
This looks really fun. I hope this is one of the titles they use to sell it at stores(assuming it even shows up retail)

Apart from those, TF2 is definitely a big inspiration for the aesthetics and general feel of the world!
Shame I won't be able to play this for pretty long time.

Out of curiosity, would you be referring to launch TF2, or later TF2? TF2's world got a bit chaotic and directionless as time went on, IMO.
