Electronics Arts has said plans to turn SimCity into a single-player game were rejected early in the development of the latest version. The admission comes as players are finding ways to get round the game's need to be constantly connected. Lucy Bradshaw, head of SimCity creator Maxis, said an offline, single-player mode did not fit with its "vision" for the urban-planning game.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21828799 Source
I've kinda had enough of these simcity stories.
Grass is green, sky is blue, EA is shit, what else is new?
I see nothing new here.
Getting real tired of your shit, Maxis.
it's unfortunate because i would totally love to play simcity if it wasn't always online. i usually don't even buy games. there are maybe 1 or 2 games a year that i get excited about and even contemplate buying. so it's sorta sad when one of those games turns out to be disagreeable with me. hell, i'll even take the shitty pathfinding because at least with a singleplayer game you can mod and fix the ai; nam did it with sc4.
I wonder how long this fiasco regarding SimCity and offline mode is gonna go? Of course, I bet EA is gonna drag this out similar to Plumbers Don't Wear Ties with the narrators (Velma & Harry) "fighting" over the microphone Speaking of Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, I also bet EA went with online DRM when they looked back at their hated 3DO. It didn't have any kind of lockout, so you could pirate 3DO games at anytime if you had a CD burner and Internet. What did it lead to? The 3DO was murdered by crappy games, system flaws, and finally being dominated by more popular consoles like the PlayStation (EA lost a lot of money when they failed so hard back then)
I've kinda had enough of these simcity stories.
No it's a good thing, they need to learn from this. Having word their failure spread everywhere will force them rethink their policies and design process.
Grass is green, sky is blue, EA is shit, what else is new?
And brother, EA makes me want to hurt people.
Lucy Bradshaw, head of SimCity creator Maxis, said an offline, single-player mode did not fit with its "vision" for the urban-planning game.
Sounds like the ME3 devs defending their ending. Gotta protect your "artistic vision" or some other bullshit.

Just got done watching AVGN? Also your reference still doesn't mean shit, cause EA wasn't thinking at about the 3DO when they made this decision.
Not only that, Tudd. I also looked at other things (GameTrailers Top 10 Worst Consoles and Lazy Game Reviewer on the 3DO). I'm taking information from past events, that's what Police officers have to do to check if their suspect(s) have committed crimes earlier!

I also add sources so that people know I'm not pulling things outta my ass
Man, Fuck EA.

Every post you make has some weird nonsequiters about old videogames.
Why even go out with these statements if it's just the complete opposite of what people want to hear anyway? They'd make less people angry if they'd just shut up.
:allears:
you're posting on an internet forum complaining about having to be connected to the internet to play a video game. Maybe instead of posting about it you should just play the damn game on your existing internet connection. idk, it's not that hard to figure out.
who cares ya'll are getting irl mad about video games just look at yourselves
stop trying look cool by rising above the crowd, you're on a video game forum
i guess you might have to find something else to waste your time on for two or three days after release. gosh darn.
Sounds like the ME3 devs defending their ending. Gotta protect your "artistic vision" or some other bullshit.
How is artistic vision bullshit? They wanted to make a social experiment multiplayer-focused game, so they didn't make an offline mode for it. It may be a silly decision but as an excuse it's a lot better than 'because we could lol'.
i guess you might have to find something else to waste your time on for two or three days after release. gosh darn.
holy shit you're being so ~edgy~ wow that's way cool
i guess you might have to find something else to waste your time on for two or three days after release. gosh darn.
So what if the thing you paid someone for is literally nonfunctional for days on end, stop whining go read a book gee whiz
holy shit you're being so ~edgy~ wow that's way cool
How is that edgy. If you can't play an online game because the servers are out you play other games. That's not edgy that's just finding other stuff to do. Your post doesn't become smarter by putting ~~~'s in it.
