I'm really not liking that patronizing assistant woman telling you the most basic functions.
I'm really not liking that patronizing assistant woman telling you the most basic functions.
modern audiences have the intelligence of a pebble of course they need their hands held. how dare they think they need to figure out some things by themselves
The demo seems quite obviously built for the purpose of "check out all these THINGS you can interact with". I imagine the release will be much less blatant about it. Other than the constant tutorial prompts and the NPC lady who won't shut up, this is shaping up to be the best Monster Hunter yet imo.

While us seasoned Hunters get pissy at it, it's there for a reason and I'm sure it'll be an option, or perhaps yes, it's just an E3 thing. [editline]edit[/editline] But yeah, this really does look to be the best Monster Hunter yet, can't wait till they show off more through more official channels.
Love the idea of a living breathing ecosystem where you hunt your quarry. I'm so fucking glad that monsters can actually interact with and fight each other now. Honestly, so far my biggest turn off is that damn guild lady. I know why I'm here, to hunt some fucking monsters.
All the 1 star missions in LR except maybe the urgent quest in every game are tutorial stuff like "Find this herb", "learn to cook meat", "find this monster part", "deliver this item", tutorials have always been there I remember Freedom Unite explaining you a lot of stuff, and MH4U also had its fair share of tutorial text during those missions, the only difference here is that it's voice acted
I'd rather have voice acting that I can ignore than loads of text I have to skip like the other games.
Freedom Unite had a lot of text during hunts that paused the game. 4 and generations had a few for story purposes, but most of the tutorial text was behind the Black Belt master hunter dude and contained missions in an arena. They were optional too.

It's up there next to "Pilot giant robot and fight monster with 100% environmental interaction and destruction."
I like the drop in/out, but at the same time, getting pubs with shit gear and not realizing it until it's too late isn't gonna be fun. Hopefully traditional lobbies will still be a thing. oh and felynes as temp party members if people leave would be nice too
