For the swarm!
That's bean counting, you can't quantify the amount of humans on earth.
Fucking sensationalist bullshit. That is NOT the 7 billionth baby. Just one of the many.
-snip-
Honestly, if they would just speed up space colonization efforts, we could avoid that.
A newly born baby girl named Danica Camacho, one of a number of children chosen to be the world's symbolic seven billionth baby, lies on the chest of her mother Camille in Fabella Maternity hospital in Manila, Philippines, Monday.
Whatever happened to reading the article?
Honestly, if they would just speed up space colonization efforts, we could avoid that.
We'd be at space colonization, if religion didn't stop so many from thinking above and beyond. :(

Yeah well, its the baby they chose to represent 7 billion.

Remember, Facepunch doesn't understand symbolism.
That one was born while 5 others died somewhere else
Be Fruitful, they said.
But 7 billion and counting? That's fruitful alright.

We could take 1.5 that before we really need to think "oh there are a lot of us".
(Some)people just need to stop being greedy as fuck.

I don't know.. what I do know is that hundreds of thousands of people are already starving.
And it doesn't take more than just a few hundred thousand people (if not only two) for unlawful killings/thefts to happen.
But then again with say 10 billion people all working, that is a hell of a lot of money earned / spent all the time, which would keep any economy in good standing. As long as it's led well I guess.
Whatever happened to reading the article?
That's exactly what he said though.
That isn't the seven billionth baby, just a representative. It'd be impossible to know which baby in the world was actually the seven billionth person alive, unless we start cataloging every single birth on the entire planet.
Let's say seventh billionth baby give or take 200 million
Honestly, if they would just speed up space colonization efforts, we could avoid that.
We don't need to worry about that, the population is expected to stabilize before we pass carrying capacity.
7 billion people alive.
And god knows how many billion people dead.

I don't think you got the point of my post.
I have a question
If these group of kids are supposedly the seven billionth people on the planet, and for the sake of argument nobody has had kids yet, what if these kids all died in an explosion or some shit right now?
Would we give the next seventh billion people the same treatment or would it not count?
Or even forgetting the kids, what if a whole bunch of fucking people died somewhere right now?
Would they still be the seventh billion kids? Will there be a second group of seven billion kids?
I don't think you got the point of my post.
Apparently not.
I wonder though when overpopulation will become a severe problem that justifies a war on world's resources.

Well it already is, and the reason America is fighting in the middle east is to get oil, because we don't have enough with our ever-growing population.
We'd be at space colonization, if religion didn't stop so many from thinking above and beyond. :(
Yes, religion is the reason we're not in space, not a lack of technology or funding religion, that's the only thing stopping us from colonising Mars right now and it's not a fucking stupid thing to say.

or the time and money we waste fighting war nope religion is the only culprit
or the time and money we waste fighting war nope religion is the only culprit
Religion is the sole cause of war and other things like oil or land do not come into the equation in the slightest
7 billion people alive.
And god knows how many billion people dead.
all of them you idiot everyone dies
Religion is the sole cause of war and other things like oil or land do not come into the equation in the slightest
Actually it's the other way round if you look at history.
What do you think all those Popes and kings were really fighting for? Greed, money, power, pure and simple. God was merely an excuse half the time.
