The Nigerian army has driven Boko Haram militants from the last camp in their Sambisa forest stronghold, President Muhammadu Buhari has said. "The terrorists are on the run and no longer have a place to hide," Mr Buhari said in a statement. The Islamists' camp fell at 13:35 local time (12:35 GMT) on Friday, he added. The army has been engaged for the last few weeks in a major offensive in the forest, a huge former colonial game reserve in north-eastern Borno state. There has been speculation that some of the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped in 2014 were being held in the forest. Some of the abducted girls who escaped shortly after they were seized said they had been kept there. The army has recaptured significant areas of territory previously controlled by Boko Haram since an offensive began in February. Mr Buhari issued a statement congratulating the armed forces on the operation, calling the apparent success "long-awaited and most gratifying". "I want to use this opportunity to commend the determination, courage and resilience of troops of Operation Lafiya Dole at finally entering and crushing the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents," he said.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-38427462
Finally some good news.
Get fucked. GJ Nigeria.
If Nigeria can get their shit in one sock, we may see a new global player. Nigeria definitely has the capability to be a highly influential economy in Africa, as it already is. American businesses are making more and more deals with Nigerian companies day-by-day, and if Nigeria can pick itself up, perhaps the rest of Africa can as well.

Just waiting for them to pop up again somewhere in Nigeria, the military wants these guys to stick around. Its the best way in keeping their shitty agendas in line by keeping a "Big Bad Guy" in the country. (We are starting to get mechs for fuck sake). Nigeria could well turn out to be a powerful world power in the next few decades, not rivaling US, Russia, or EU in power probably, but enough to have a good voice in global politics.. If it decides to fix itself up like what you said.
