Anyone who has been in the army and deployed: Have you ever been shot?

I'm just wondering what it's like. It's not like in videogames where you can take ten bullets to the chest and be fine. One bullet seems like it would be enough to have me on the ground in pain.
It's scary to think about actually being shot. I can't even imagine how painful it is. I'd be interested if anyone in here has ever gotten shot before, possibly serving in the Military or so.
Of course it is painful; a metal bullet just penetrated your skin. I hate how games are so unlike life, like COD.

Yea, I think that people should get shot in real life for every time they get shot in COD. That'd show them how much it hurts!
Well, you have to take into account that the games wouldn't be FUN if you were out of commission in one shot.
Ask Linelor, I don't know if he's been shot but he has been hit by shrapnel from an IED, which is close enough to a bullet
I've heard that the initial pain depends on the amount of adrenaline going through your body. But eventually you WILL feel pain.

UT instagib was pretty fun.

Lol yeah, but the point of the game is so that you can do that without getting shot.
But forget that, I would like to know this too. Anyone?
Well I think the pain is depending on your amount of adrenaline.
Oh gawd, I was late.

Breaking news: millions of people have suddenly died, all reportedly avid players of the popular first person shooter game Modern Warfare 2.
I'd assume it would feel like a large, blunt object slamming into your flesh, and after the initial shock and sensory overload, depending on the effects on nerves, tissue, ect. you'd feel pain. It would burn as well, because the round it hot, and exposed nerves would be irritated. Not to mention our bodies defense mechanisms would kick in, causing further irritation.
I've been hit by a small shell fragment while off shooting. Just a little piece that grazed my neck. Felt like a shaving nick. But that was a fragment, not a full-sized, 230g projectile. Still, felt like a badass.

Fox News Exclusive- It appears every player shot themselves in a mass suicide to bring down the econmy of the United States due to the game teaching all of them to be a terrorist.
i was shot in the Achilles heal once in Falujah back in '04 while i was on duty
I've been shot before.
It was dark... I was in my robe when the crips attacked! They came (:gizz:) with their gats and blew the shit out of my dog...

'ogm so sad dude'
'hai mom ir on tv2211!'
'FUUUUUU-'
'FOR RIZZLE MUTHERFU--'
And many more people have died of laughter.
FOX NEWS takes these few moments to... Haha.... Heh... WHAHAHAHAHAH AHAH--

Anyone else think it would be awesome if there was a game that gave you a small electric shock every time you got hurt?
It'd make things so much more intense.
Of course it is painful; a metal bullet just penetrated your skin. I hate how games are so unlike life, like COD.
COD would be pretty boring and impossible if it should be like real life.

Heel you mean? That makes me doubtful.
Well, you have to take into account that the games wouldn't be FUN if you were out of commission in one shot.
In real life you aren't out of commission in 1 shot...
In fact, even taking a hit from a .357 magnum to the chest, you've got around 8 seconds on average to return fire before you'll be incapacitated.
(To who ever rated that dumb, go read up on handgun stopping power and stop playing video games for a second.)
As for the pain of it, that's going to depend heavily on the situation and what you were shot by. Getting hit by a 22lr, if it just passes through your leg or something without tearing anything major up, you may not even notice for hours until you see the blood. I'd imagine getting hit by the latest-greatest wiz-bang self defense handgun rounds would be the most painful thing imaginable.

did you died?>

Achilles heel isn't an anatomical part either. I think he means Achilles tendon, which makes me even more doubtful.
It really depends on where you get shot. IN the head or heart? Dead. But if you get shot in the leg or arm, you probably would be okay if you can stop the bleeding.

He's asking about what it's like.
Depending on adrenaline, you sometimes don't notice some shot locations.
Any major areas, yes. In the leg, yes. Most of the times you do notice, rare occasions happen where they don't.
I know I got a ricochet in my leg, that hurt like a bitch.
did you died?>
Hah that reminds me of a guy on eve that a corp member talked to because we were trying to start a war.
him> ever been on a battlefield son? And I don't mean an eve battlefield
corpie> I've played battlefield 1942
him> I've been to iraq
corpie> Did you die?
A bit later:
him>I'm in the navy seals speshel forces.
corpie> I'm pretty sure the special forces requires you to be able to spell "Special"
There were a ton of other spelling mistakes, it was worse than those russians that randomly message you on steam asking for a free hat.
From what I have heard, from my uncle who is in the army, the worst pain is actually 30 or so seconds after you are actually shot.
The initial penetration, he said, most guys don't even feel. It's the massive burning sensation, from your skin being burnt by the bullet, that hurts the most. Depending how deep it goes.. well I guess you can guess how painful that would be.
He's asking about what it's like.
I'm saying that depending on where you get shot, the pain would be different. Besides, other people are discussing about getting shot, so why can't I?
People experience pain differently, and depending on where you're hit it'll feel different still...
It might feel like a Sharp Burning pain, or it might even feel like a dull pain, It mostly depends where you're hit. Does it hit nothing but fat in your ass cheek, or does it rip through some Fat and muscles in your leg? Does it hit your leg directly and shatter the bone into 300 pieces, and does it exit the leg, deformed from hitting the bone, leaving an irregular exit wound the size of a shotgun shell?
Either way, it sucks
My gov teacher was shot in the head by a sniper in vietnam, he was a gunner in a helicopter. Everyone is too afraid to ask him about the details though. The guy is as tough as nails.
I got shot all the way back in 'nam.
It felt great.
