This is nothing like Spore. Do not download this expecting it to be Spore.

It's a good thing that Spore fans are going to be given clarification on this.
They might have assumed that a game in the same series as Spore might actually have similarities to Spore.

There's not much building you can do, the character shapes are static, the most you can do is change their "armor" appearance.
This game is like Diablo with customization. If anyone was wondering. I heard it was alright and if you're interested in Diablo games then it's definitely worth your time.

And what's even worse: All the characters I saw in the game are shaped as existing creatures. There's no creativity in their character design.
So how many people complaining here actually downloaded and played it before whining on here? Or are you all just on that bandwagon that's been around since spore's release?
(Wanting a straight opinion from someone who's took the time to play it, is it worth the download?)

There was a closed beta a month ago.
I really like Spore + it's expansion. It isn't perfect but it has it's own charme.
This game however is bullcrap! Like with all the games nowadays they must be full of action, they must be playable on a console and they must be simple. CoD players are the targeted audience for every big publisher now. Another reason to hate EA.
You cannot say it was Maxis who said "Hey, let's take all the complex building shit outta this game and make another Diablo/Torchlight! That's gonna be so creative!", not when you look at their previous games (The Sims, Sim City, Spore).
Going to try it, though I'm definitely not getting my hopes up.
Which monkeys did they recruit to come up with the name of this game, they wanted it to be a "darker, grittier" game than spore, so they slap "dark" on it. I can't wait for Gritexpansion to come out
I was part of the first beta, it's pretty good.
Also, the customization is extremely limited, unfortunately. Basically, you get a base hero, and you can customize him by putting ONE part from each category on him in any way you want (and also adjust size and stuff of the part.)
You also get to choose colors. However, the parts do have their own stats, which is pretty interesting.

I got to play the Private Beta, and I liked it a bit. Not at all like how a normal MMO should be, but it plays better as a single player game.
And even though I was disappointed by the whole not getting to create your own character, I can see why they included preset characters.
Also, to anyone who disliked not being able to add more than one part per category, you can turn a piece of equipment into decorative pieces.
