The first general election debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump averaged nearly 81 million viewers, according to data from Nielsen, making it the most watched presidential debate in modern history.Until last night, the most-watched debate in history was the 1980 debate between Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. That debate also averaged just over 80 million viewers. With a few networks still to be counted by Nielsen, and the 80 million figure not including anyone who watched online, last night's debate will end up with more people watching than any prior presidential debate. In 2012, the first debate between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama averaged 70 million viewers. In 2008, the first debate between John McCain and Obama averaged 53 million viewers
http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-media/2016/09/first-trump-clinton-debate-smashes-ratings-records-228788 This doesn't even include online watchers, and some stations like PBS and CSPAN.
When the end of the world is at stake, you kinda figured people would be more interested.

I wish this want the case, but i think in the eyes of the average Joe, trump won
Well, at least it seems this election has made more people give a damn then other recent elections, though it's really sad it's barely beating a debate from 26 years ago (perhaps due to the lack of complete statistics, at least one can hope).
I wish this want the case, but i think in the eyes of the average Joe, trump won
For those who support Trump, Trump won.
I wish this want the case, but i think in the eyes of the average Joe, trump won
i think he clearly lost
i think he clearly lost
look I know it's hard but we all just have to accept that trump won, okay guys? just get your MAGA hats trust me it'll be easier the sooner you do it come on
I wish this want the case, but i think in the eyes of the average Joe, trump won
I don't know how you could see Trump winning that as the strong man was pretty easily over ridden without crowd support behind his statements. Standing on his own he was flacid.
Me and my mates got drunk while we watched, taking drinks whenever one of the candidates acted like a huge jackass.
Me and my mates got drunk while we watched, taking drinks whenever one of the candidates acted like a huge jackass.
Boy that drink must have never left your lips when Trump was answering/ shouting over others/ being told off.
Boy that drink must have never left your lips when Trump was answering/ shouting over others/ being told off.
I think that the implication is that all of his friends died from alcohol poisoning. Tragic, really.
Out of curiosity I went on /pol/ near the end of the debate, and even there people were calling Trump out on not being prepared and 'missing easy zingers'. There were still plenty claiming it was rigged, but it was a surprising amount of concession.
I think that the implication is that all of his friends died from alcohol poisoning. Tragic, really.
Oh. Well...I'm sorry for your loss. If I can be of help during these hard times you know where my inbox is. May your friends live forever as a PSA on Trump induced drinking.
I don't know how you could see Trump winning that as the strong man was pretty easily over ridden without crowd support behind his statements. Lots of people I have talked to via Facebook and GMod, feel that Trump won the debate in terms of constantly being on guard, and also feel that Hillary was p.much puppeting the moderators to do fact checking. I already stated my feelings on the other thread, but yeah. It's really weird how people judge who or what wins a debate.

I personally think that Trump was outclassed in every single section of the debate, but it's pretty hyperbolic to suggest that he got destroyed or that this will definitely cost him the election.

I think he did okay at some parts like losing jobs to NAFTA. It got pretty bad when he just fell into a pit of his own lies about his demeanor, Clinton really didn't even have to say anything at that point :v: It also takes awhile for reality to set in, people where saying how great the GOP convention was until they sat down and thought about it for a while
Clinton took too long to make her points, while trump dominated by successfully interrupting constantly and making his"points" in very simple sound byte terms
that's a very weird definition of winning for a president [editline]27th September 2016[/editline]
Lots of people I have talked to via Facebook and GMod, feel that Trump won the debate in terms of constantly being on guard, and also feel that Hillary was p.much puppeting the moderators to do fact checking.
I wish this want the case, but i think in the eyes of the average Joe, trump won
Glad to know the average Joe has the intellect of a mollusk.
I wish this want the case, but i think in the eyes of the average Joe, trump won
Polls say Hillary won, even Fox news said Trump was weak in a lot of areas. He didn't even follow up on the email thing. At all. And he went off on dumb angry points, like the whole birth certificate thing, not to mention lying about his stances on global warming and Iraq.
For those who support Trump, Trump won.
Aren't most of the polls saying Trump won?
Aren't most of the polls saying Trump won?
the majority of the polls were stuffed by trumpites to give a misleading impression
Glad to know the average Joe has the intellect of a mollusk.
Hey man, there's no need to disparage mollusks. Cephalopods and polyplacophorans are pretty smart :V
Clinton took too long to make her points, while trump dominated by successfully interrupting constantly and making his"points" in very simple sound byte terms
"Successfully interrupting constantly"?? I don't think you quite understand how a debate works... Saying you want "Law and Ordah" repeatedly doesn't make you a winner. Trump lost just admit it.
the majority of the polls were stuffed by trumpites to give a misleading impression
Can you elaborate?
Can you elaborate?
The online polls are easily manipulated, /pol/ and /r/The_Donald where posting links to all the polls and how to bot them. CNN was the only one that I am aware of that polled real people after the debate and she won in a landslide.
Aren't most of the polls saying Trump won?
If this what you considers "polls"
Trump got so crushed I almost felt bad for the guy. Also all the after-debate poll inflation from /pol/ was so cringey.
