Logo request - Zombies not included

Hello creatism corner of facpunch.
Today I come bearing a request.
I've been working on a project, a horror night in a town called Duiven in the Netherlands.
It's an annual night where a bunch of scary dressed people come together the scare the living crap out of small children.
They sign up to walk a pre-designated path filled with ghouls and nightmares.
It's fun, but after our first 2 times we need some digital upgrading.
Sadly my and my companies photoshop (or any other digital image editing skills) are horrible.
Do you think you can help a fellow out?

This here is the picture that need to be edited, can be sized down if desired.
This is the sign of the city of Duiven.
What I need you guys to do is edit this in such a way, the pigeons on the shield look zombified or mulated.
The shield itself has to remain the same colour, since that represents the city.

There's plenty of time to do so, but sadly no budget to spend :c
