A while ago, I made some random glossy orb things in Photoshop, because I was bored as fuck, and wanted a new background for my laptop.
But today, I figured I'd try re-creating said image in 3DS Max, and the result turned out quite well.

3DS Max 2009:

They obviously look much better in 3ds max.
Looks pretty good but I don't see the point in this work. Like what is it supposed to be ? or be used for ?
For marvalling at it's wonder.

He said it. He wanted a background.
Anyway, i think the only flaw with it is the different windows reflection on every orb and the too accentuated contrast. Maybe light up the scene some more, it should be brighter imo
By the borders on the orbs it looks like they are attached to a surface by nails, but by the shadows they look like they aren't = Bad.

They look pretty free floating to me.
Thats very perty and a good re-creation, what did you use to render with?
I don't like how you can see the corners of the room in the reflection in the orbs.

Yeah, I initially wanted to use a Studio HDRI to fix that reflection problem, but I failed at making a seamless fit.

It's a scale-flattened dome-sphere, with the ring built around. The ring is glued onto the glass, basically. The orbs don't have borders by themselves.

Does 'art' have to have a point?

I tried variations on the light settings. Any lighter, and the shadows fucked up for some reason, and the rim of the ring around the orbs blended in with the background, which looked really weird.
And yeah, the window reflection should have been further away to ensure an even reflection on all orbs.
Use a ref map to get same reflection on all of them.
