House Republican Leader John Boehner plans to hammer President Obama during an election-eve rally on Monday night, for his use of the word “enemies” during an interview with Univision radio that got huge play in the conservative blogosphere.
The president said: “If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna punish our enemies, and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us’ — if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election — then I think it’s going to be harder. And that’s why I think it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2nd.”
In remarks prepared for delivery to a rally in Cincinnati with Rob Portman, the GOP nominee for Senate in Ohio, and John Kasich, the GOP nominee for Ohio governor, Boehner says:
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a president in the White House who referred to Americans who disagree with him as ‘our enemies.’ Think about that. He actually used that word. When Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush used the word ‘enemy,’ they reserved it for global terrorists and foreign dictators — enemies of the United States. Enemies of freedom. Enemies of our country.
“Today, sadly, we have president who uses the word ‘enemy’ for fellow Americans — fellow citizens. He uses it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government — people speaking out for a smaller, more accountable government that respects freedom and allows small businesses to create jobs. Mr. President, there's a word for people who have the audacity to speak up in defense of freedom, the Constitution, and the values of limited government that made our country great. We don't call them ‘enemies.’ We call them ‘patriots.’”
Keep rating me disagree.

Didn't Bush call the left "enemies" on numerous occasions?
As an independent, having more republicans in Washington would only lead to more stalemate in this political climate.

G.W? Probably, but source?
Politics, ugh. If you can't hold a proper argument, you just start bitching about these little things.

Could perhaps be true unless Obama can live up to the reputation of Clinton and prosper even with a Republican house.

Well I was pretty offended by Obama when I heard this speech even though I don't think I meet the exact criteria of his 'enemies'.
The country is polarized enough.

oh yes Clinton was amazing
besides having oral sex in the oval office and stealing all the silverware and computers from the White House after he left.
Obama is more or less doing the same thing to Boehner because Boehner said "this is not a time for compromise."
It's kind of funny.
G.W? Probably, but source?
I'll look, but the democrats didn't get their shit in a knot over things like that so I can't see myself finding it anytime soon.
communist дmeяika
I'm sorry but my slight immaturity disallows me to take anything that a man last named Boehner (Bow-ner) seriously.
it's bay-ner
Probably an awful unintentional choice of words. By referring to "enemies", meaning that people who do not support their belief.
"Enemies" in that quote, does not equal evil and vile.
i bet if there is ever a face to face heated argument between boehner and obama it would end with them making out
If I had any respect left for Obama, it's gone now.

Boner, you and company aren't just disagreeing with obama, you're digging in you heels, sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming at the top of your lungs, "LALALALALALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

This is just one of the more heated elections, so if anything comes up remotely worth getting upset over, they take advantage of it. That combined with the usual pre-election bullshit is the perfect storm of party-to-party shit slinging.
i will fight you latencyy
Still better than the republicans
How is this better? Have the Republicans done this in Bush's 8 years?
Maybe?
