Im looking for a batteryholder (or cartridge), somewhat six or three celled ones.

Okay, i'm making a contraption / prop-bomb for the defusable bomb kit i recently put together.

And here's what i am trying to achieve:

And the thing is, i want to make MY prop-bomb battery driven! And im gonna try the same one as with the picture above. To make a 6 + 1 sticks setup. And then i was thinking, i am gonna hide the batteries, IN THE MIDDLE, so the batteries would kind of be concealed by the other six sticks around it.
But then i was thinking, "What about those holders you in some cases put in batteries? Their size is most likely the one i need so i can make them fit in the middle, if all 7 sticks are the same size!"
Something in the line of this:

The ones in the pick are C batteries. I am gonna stick with AA batteries, because i think C and D batteries are too bulky, and would make the the overall length of sticks a bit too long.
Where can i buy three or six celled holder/cartridge, with a somewhat of a triangular shape? I've been looking far and wide for these kind of holder things. But i haven't had any luck.
I dunno about where you live, but in Australia they sell those in every electronic hobbiest store
[editline]30th May 2012[/editline]
And be careful with that shit. If someone see that not knowing it's a prop they'll call the bomb squad
Theres quite a few after a quick search. They are generally called battery holders or battery spring holders, just search for AA battery holder, ebay has thousands.

Thats pretty obvious, isn't it? The guy running the thing also has this on his site:
"Dear Pranksters:
Yeah, you. I know you are excited to scare your friends and coworkers with a phony bomb, but use your head. This kind of device can make people freak out and call the authorities. So don't bring this to school or to work, and certainly don't bring it anywhere near an airport! Seriously, don't get yourself into trouble."

I've searched and searched, but i can't really find the triangular one that i need.

Yep, the website you totally linked to us so we could look it up

No, because i am lying, like everybody on facepunch.

But besides that, your post wasn't really helpful towards my request. What you posted, and what i replied with was pretty damn irreverent actually.
So if you don't really have anything else to do here, please refrain from posting useless things, UNLESS you actually know where i can get a battery thingamajig
Thanks

You shouldn't expect everybody to instinctively look at an image URL to know about some site you didn't link to. That's pretty common knowledge.

Don't worry about me, at all. I asked for a battery thing and you're all over the other way, which i don't need.
Is there any online hobbyists in Australia that ships overseas? Yes or no
It runs on 9V, can a 9V battery fit in the middle?
I've got this small flashlight that runs of AA and has a cylinder battery holder, if you want to look through garage sales or something.
If all else fails, you can buy single AA holders and glue them in a triangle or in a line.

A 9v battery will only last a couple of hours in this thing, AA / C cells have much greater capacity.

A 9V battery would make the diameter of the sticks too big, if i were to keep them all the same size. And it doesn't have alot of capacity either
The glue option might work, but it might also be

Thats why i am not keen of using a 9V. I'd rather see if i can't make twelve AA batteries work in the middle of it, instead of six C or D cells, which would make the sticks TOO long.
It would be the most optimal for me if i could find those triangular battery holders ... Or i worst case, i'd have to hotglue four times three AA batteries together and just put them in the middle instead.
To be 100% honest, it looks like more of a comic prop than a convincing bomb. Nobody really builds bombs like that any more with the exception of demolition crews, which those bombs are placed on the struts of buildings. To make it more convincing, you need to make it messier.
For example, the notoriously known Nokia bomb (the Nokia would survive the explosion anyway).

A propane bomb:

Another cell bomb:

See how crude they are? That is what makes them convincing. In Pittsburgh some guy taped two deodorant sticks together with some wires sticking out and it got half the city shut down.

Why is this sidetracking again?! For god sake, i am asking for a fucking battery thing, not how to make terrorist bombs!!!!

I'm saying your fake bomb design is fucking stupid, and is very limiting on your batteries. I'm not encouraging making ACTUAL bombs, just making yours look less cartoony.

He can build whatever the hell he wants.

Thats all I've got.
Dick Smith used to sell these, but I'm not sure if they still do hobby electronics like they used to.
Tried DealExtreme?

Read the original post i made. I said nothing about i wanted your fucking opinion on how to make the bomb I am making the way i want to. End of story.

Thank god you came along with some common sense. I salute you
But the adapters aren't really anything useful, since i can just take the actual C battery itself and chuck in there. I am looking for a way to make three, six or nine AA batteries stick together, without having to tape or hotglue them together. :v:

Mmm, chances look awfully slim.
... Well shit
six or nine AA batteries stick together, without having to tape or hotglue them together.
I still don't get why you're sticking so many batteries together. 6 AA batteries is 9 volts, 9 AA would be just under 14 volts. If you plan on running a simple timer / defuse, there is no need to have that many batteries. Being as you're going to have to restrict the voltage anyway, it's not like it's going to offer a significantly larger amount of battery life, because eventually they will drain / corrode away (if they're alkaline).
Just use a few CR2032 cells. Easy to conceal, last a good bit of time for low-drain devices.

It draws about 90mA, so it isn't exactly energy efficient.
Being as CR2032's are lithium, they tend to last a bit longer than your average battery.

2032's are only like 200 mAh, a AA is usually around 2000mAh, 10 times the capacity at half the voltage. Two AA cells in series achieve the same voltage at the aforementioned 10x capacity of a 2032. AA cells are substantially larger but button cells are only realistic for devices that draw very low power (a few milliamps continuously) or have very long idle times (an LED that blinks for a couple of seconds per hour) where size is an important factor. If you think about using several 2032's in parallel to increase capacity it very quickly becomes cost-ineffective and you might as well just switch to a different type of battery.

I could imagine ...
To answer the OP:
Digikey, mouser, farnell and other electronics distributors will definitely have what you seek but shipping might be expensive, some sites offer free shipping for orders over a certain price.
Some second tier distributors targeted at hobbyists might be of interest, usually everything will be significantly marked up but some sites might have very cheap shipping and the inventory is streamlined so you won't have any difficulty finding what you need. this also means the inventory is significantly more limited than a top tier distributor. Try bitsbox.co.uk if you're in europe, sparkfun if in USA. Don't know many of these.
Ebay is also an option, you can find almost anything here and sometimes at amazing prices. Be wary though, lots of scamming happens here.
And lastly an honorable mention to Dealextreme, it's a wholesale dealer in hong kong that basically buys up surplus stock and sells it at incredible prices. They have vast stock but watch out for dodgy quality and fakes. If something's marked as "genuine" it's real, if it's marked as "designer" it's a knock-off. Shipping is free but can take a while, I've heard horror stories of shipments taking months but also heard plenty of people say theirs took 2-3 weeks. I've ordered there once and it took about a month.
DealExtreme shipping really is hit and miss. Don't order from them if it's urgent, but if you have time then go for it.
Their stock is normally cheap quality, but you get what you pay for. Most things on there are a case of if it breaks, then no big loss.

I am aware of dealextreme, i have used it before.
But now i've looked far and wide for this sort of triangular one that would favor any kind of circular or cylindrical design i have in mind.

But what i don't seem to understand is, it's a VERY common design for flashlights, but why the hell is it impossible to find standalone holders like them?! The only ones i seem to find are two, four or eight ones, and if i DO manage to find three or six ones, THEY ARE SQUARE!
Maybe it's time to adapt your design, or you didn't look hard enough.
Do a parametric search on digikey for the number of cells and the cell types you want and then scroll through the list. If you still can't find it, change your design.
