I'm addicted to weed, and I quit a couple of days ago...Any tips?

I've seriously been dieing for a joint. I'm addicted because it's the only thing that calms me down, and my life's been in a lot of shit lately.
Anybody else in the same boat as me or do you have any tips to offer to keep me off? I quit because it's the reason I failed a year of college and I'm having to re-take the year. It's not fully the reason, but it was an incentive for me to scive off on my own and smoke it.
Is it wise to quit? Grrr, :(
Just wait a few more days and eventually you'll be fine.
Not addicted, when my smokeing weed started taking over from more important things, school family etc, i started hanging round with differnt freinds, started smoking fags, as i realise that when smokeing lots of joints i got addicited to baccy, will power its not that hard to just say no to weed.
Weed isn't much of an addiction. You just gotta tell yourself : I am not going to smoke tonight, I just don't need the high.
It's pretty hard for me to go a while without smoking (unless I have a legit reason, like I'm getting tested).
Normally, I tell myself that I'm not going to smoke tonight... and then I think about it... and I decide, why the fuck not? I mean, what honest reason do I have for not smoking weed. I smoke when I have nothing that it would interfere with, so what's the problem?
You gotta just shit your time around it. Get your shit done, do what you gotta do, and then reward yourself with it.
I think that's the reason everyone smokes
boredom.
Smoke weed after you get your college work done.
It works as a great incentive.
I just quit indefinitely. Until I can mature enough to be able to use it responsibly, I'm going to abstain. If it's affecting your work/school/personal life, you need to reevaluate your relationship with weed. Just get rid of your stash, and anything you could use to smoke with. Take up chewing gum. Do something that takes your mind off of wanting to get high.

Props to you man.
You're not addicted!
You can't get addicted to weed. It could be habit forming, but you'll need to be like Cheech and Chong.
Before someone flames, its not mentally addicting. It can be physically though. But i'm positive there isn't any people in rehab for weed.
But you could withdrawl, but not like you would as a alcoholic or a heroin user.
You're just feaning. Everyone does it.
I've been smoking weed almost everyday for the past 8 months, i can stop at anytime i can. In fact, i had to once because of probation (piss testing and shit) and i didn't even smoke a bowl. I wanted to, but i didn't let the urge to over take me.
Oh and nice last wind8ws. That is really smart of you. Not many people would even think that way.
Just don't let weed become a problem for you. The drug isn't taking over your actions and life, its how you choose it.
you can get addicted to weed in the same sense that you can get addicted to sex or World of Warcraft
whereas if you're hooked on benzos you can actually die if you try to quit cold turkey
so just remember that you have it easy

You can be addicted to weed. And there are plenty of people who go to rehab for it.

You have that backwards. It isn't physically addictive, but it can be mentally addictive.

And any withdrawal symptoms experienced would be completely psychological

There are people in rehab for weed because they got caught by the law, and they had the choice of rehab or time in jail.
Yeah the psychological addiction that may be caused by frequent smoking can be overcome easily by being occupied and not letting yourself get bored and think about it.

Actually, I find that the best way to overcome an addiction to marijuana is... to simply stop smoking.
It's that easy.
Smoke fags instead of weed, helped me out.
That's terrible advice. Tobacco will kill you.
Not for a good 20 years or so.
Kick it with friends, take up a new hobby, and generally find other things to do besides smoking weed. Best of luck :)
you don't neccessarily have to stop, either. just limit yourself to weekends or something. that's how I do, I stay more or less sober all week then smoke like 6 bowls a day on friday Saturday and Sunday. never got in the way of anything so far.

My bad thanks! i was looking for the article about that, but i couldn't find it. :X
If people are going to rehab for weed, their probably stupid. Most people in rehab are sent there by a family member or part of a law program.

Yeah, it's unfortunate the way our society treats drug offenses, specifically marijuana. I mean, I can understand sending a repeat cocaine/heroin/meth offender to rehab... but marijuana? Come on...

didn't say it was good for you but it helped me to not smoke weed, when my mates sparked up a joint i sparked a cig kept me busy.
Also, while tobaco isnt good for you,i had a family member die of lung cancer who had not smoke in 30 years, but no other people that have been smokein for 60+ years that are fit and healthy. not saying its a good thing to do but you may not die from it, only highly likely.
I don't see how it's possible to get addicted to weed. I realize the mental aspect of everything can make you feel make you "addicted" but all the same.. it's non addictive, and it's... well it's a weak drug.
I know i'm biased as shit, i've been addicted to hard shit like heroin and coke(not anymore), so I just can't understand something I find as relaxing as weed to be addictive.

Do you put tobacco in your joints?
Do you put tobacco in your joints?
Yes, but it isn't the tobacco I'm addicted to. I know that.
It's the effect of cannabis I'm addicted to.

I agree that bashing weed is bad, I agree that the legalization should come, but you don't have to over-defend it. You can get addicted to it, it's a proven fact. I can't get addicted to smoking but fuckloads of people can, so your statement about "I'm not addicted to weed, therefore nobody can be" is pretty much false.
@OP:
First get your personal life straight and only after then smoke weed (and try to use it as a reward, like doing it after getting learning/work/personal responsibilities done). Oh and probably you'll be fine without it, just always do something to distract you from them, go out with friends or something like that.
I'll reward myself if getting a grade A in my homework (A levels) by a nice joint that night. :)

@op here.
I don't see how anyone can be addicted.
If I'm dry or I quit for a week or so to lower my tolerance I always find after three days I don't really think about it anymore.

I've had a history of using weed to cope with my problems...
Now that it's been shut out, I'm afriad they'll resurface. The worry even about that makes me want to have a spliff to calm down.
It's the effect I'm addicted to. Not physically.
