Today, in PST. American bombers would be flying over Japanese skies, 65 years ago, dropping leaflets warning them about future destruction. Just two days ago, Hiroshima was bombed, killing well over 170,000 Japanese. The cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima are the only cities to have been bombed by a nuclear weapon in Human History, the Month of August is the only time when humanity has ever used a nuclear weapon on one another. Today, many still debate Truman's decision to drop the weapons after receiving Japan's Potsdam Declaration response; misinterpreting it. People say that a demonstration of the bomb in Tokyo Harbor would have scared the Japanese into surrender, others argue that the two direct bombings of the Japanese Cities would immediately prevent the Soviet Union from acquiring an territories in Japan after it's declaration of war, it would also put a halt to the American Invasion of Japan itself and it would the overall war to a close which did a few days later. The fact was, was that Japan was already in shambles in 1944, supplies to the island have been harshly strained and the economy has been run aground. If the war would have progressed without any use of the atomic bomb, projections would have slated another 3 million people would be added to the total casualties of World War II.
TBH they shoulda used bat bombs instead of nukes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_bomb
Dr. Adams maintained that the bat bombs would have been effective without the devastating effects of the atomic bomb. He is quoted as having said:
Think of thousands of fires breaking out simultaneously over a circle of forty miles in diameter for every bomb dropped. Japan could have been devastated, yet with small loss of life.

People died 65 years ago from a nuclear bomb. Okay. (User was banned for this post ("Dumb" - SteveUK))
TBH they shoulda used bat bombs instead of nukes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_bomb
Ever hear of the Dresden Fire Bombing? They used the same tactic and the entire city was destroyed. The fireball was so big, people weren't only dying from burning to death but the fireball was literally sucking up all the oxygen in the area, suffocating most people to death. It had the exact same effect and loss of life as an A-bomb, only without radiation. Also, the bombings were justified. If they hadn't done them, a combined invasion of the allied forces would have cost an excess of 1 million lives from both sides. The Japanese had spread propaganda that the US were brutal murderers, so they trained civilians to create roadblocks and to create mobs to block roads and other things. And a demonstration bombing would not have done anything. Before the bombings, there was a military coup being brewed by parts of the military to take the Emperor's throne and keep the war going.
People died 65 years ago from a nuclear bomb. Okay.
generic furry's opinion is generic furry's opinion. Have a box to put your worthless thoughts in.
I like how the Japanese are so vocal about this part of the war but try to remove the Rape of Nanking from their history books.
Hurrah for denuclearization!
I don't know if the nukes were really necessary to end the war, but it would have been nice if they found some way to avoid using them.
People died 65 years ago from a nuclear bomb. Okay.
Your kind is worth less than any, trolled or not. I support nuclear weapons fully, I very well know the effects of them however I have mixed opinions about the bombings during WW2.
I don't know if the nukes were really necessary to end the war, but it would have been nice if they found some way to avoid using them.
this to be honest.
Atomic bombs: Because fuck you we have bonds to spend.
We did what we had to do to win a war. Back when you didnt have to worry about killing civilians and it should still be that way now.
I understand why Truman decided to drop nuclear weapons on Japan. If we hadn't, the war might have carried on to take even more lives than the causalities caused during the bombings.
People died 65 years ago from a nuclear bomb. Okay.
Rated heart because it seems like you dont have one. Yet.
generic furry's opinion is generic furry's opinion. Have a box to put your worthless thoughts in.
That has absolutely NO PLACE in your argument. That aside, I feel that what we did that day was slightly overboard. Though I think that they had it coming in some form.
Got what they deserved. :fsmug:
We did what we had to do to win a war. Back when you didnt have to worry about killing civilians and it should still be that way now.
I hope you get killed in the crossfire then.
Hey it's caboose I know you off vent but anyways good I hope so considering I'll be shooting back at whoever is shooting at me.
Hey it's caboose I know you off vent but anyways good I hope so considering I'll be shooting back at whoever is shooting at me.
So if the United States Army comes along, they kill your dad, mother, and other family members, will you still accept the fact that your family died for a good cause? Even without them knowing what killed them?
So if the United States Army comes along, they shoot your dad, mother, and other family members, will you still accept the fact that your family died for a good cause? Even without them knowing what killed them?
That makes no sense, and also if it were the U.S. Army shooting my family I'm pretty sure me and all the other gun owners would be exercising our 2nd Amendment rights and be overthrowing a tyranical government.
Got what they deserved.
Uh, no they didn't. It's like saying that all of the people in America deserve to get bombed because of the war in Afghanistan.
That makes no sense, and also if it were the U.S. Army shooting my family I'm pretty sure me and all the other gun owners would be exercising our 2nd Amendment rights and be overthrowing a tyranical government.

Back when you didnt have to worry about killing civilians and it should still be that way now.

ITT: Ridiculous American who think that genocide can be justified.
That wasn't a genocide. It was a bombing smart one.
That makes no sense, and also if it were the U.S. Army shooting my family I'm pretty sure me and all the other gun owners would be exercising our 2nd Amendment rights and be overthrowing a tyranical government.
You don't get it do you? How would you feel like if you were totally defenseless and everything you know love and hold dear was destroyed for some horrible stupid reason, while there clearly was a different solution which did not require it? twat
