(Nasdaq: MSFT) and LinkedIn Corporation (NYSE: LNKD) on Monday announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Microsoft will acquire LinkedIn for $196 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $26.2 billion, inclusive of LinkedIn’s net cash. LinkedIn will retain its distinct brand, culture and independence. Jeff Weiner will remain CEO of LinkedIn, reporting to Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. Reid Hoffman, chairman of the board, co-founder and controlling shareholder of LinkedIn, and Weiner both fully support this transaction. The transaction is expected to close this calendar year.
thats a lot of cash
Good for the ones getting the monies, I guess. Can't really say this would either be negative or positive change.
There are so many things that need to be fixed in LinkedIn but I'm not really confident that Microsoft can do it, they have proven to be incompetent on web apps.
Welp, looks like I'm never using it.
Oh god dammit. I like a lot of Microsoft products and all, but I cannot think of a single time they've acquired someone and not ruined them
my brother works for linkedIn now i guess he works for microsoft lmfaoooo someones going to need to find a new job soon
Oh god dammit. I like a lot of Microsoft products and all, but I cannot think of a single time they've acquired someone and not ruined them
Minecraft? It was ruined a long time ago.
This seems like a bad investment. Watch as linkedin goes down.
Minecraft? It was ruined a long time ago.
People constantly throw fits about minecraft but tbh, aside from developing additional content for free (that they're in no way obligated to make) slowly I see no problem with it, and I think Microsoft was pushing the "windows 10 edition" that's re-written in C++ to improve the performance which was a major concern.
Minecraft? It was ruined a long time ago.
Minecraft delivers all its updates for free across all platforms and is way less buggy than it was when Notch was at the helm. Their only problem is feature creep.
Welp, looks like I'm never using it.
Unless you're in a professional field, there's no real good reason to have it to begin with
Seems like linked in is about to join Myspace then, in the category of: Bon Voyage
How? The site is widely used for many people and is very active in the IT field.
It won't after MS gets their hands on it
they canceled the linkedin events at apple wwdc because of this lol
It won't after MS gets their hands on it
I doubt most users will care about it outside it changing on the back-end a bit and some feature revamps. Although I am curious what makes you say that, like your reasoning to why people would migrate to another corporate social network.

Skype is a big example. If even my tech illiterate relatives complain about all the nonsensical changes, it's bad.

I actually cancelled my skype subscription after repeated requests for them to either fix it or revert the update for months, I could not believe how badly they fucked the pooch there. If your chat client when updated can't put messages in order maybe don't put out the update, jesus christ :v:
My brother religiously believes that the java version is superior and less buggy than the C++ version
I got Minecraft back in Alpha and they promised all future Minecraft versions on PC will be free, I'm not paying for the "Windows 10" version especially with that skin pack bs
If you’re one of the 20 million(!) players who have the PC edition of Minecraft (referred to by techy people as the Java version) you’ll be able to download Windows 10 Edition Beta from the Windows 10 store for free
https://mojang.com/2015/07/announcing-minecraft-windows-10-edition-beta/

Really, the only thing i see happening when Microsoft acquires something is a windows mobile app showing up for it.
Wow I hope they make it not terrible. Linkedin is the ugliest website with a billion dollar+ valuation. I hate that career people at my school tell me how important it is based off of how much it sucks. Also, it's a mostly premium service. You can't message people unless you pay an absurd amount per month (I think like $30).
My brother religiously believes that the java version is superior and less buggy than the C++ version
thats only because in the java version the bugs are in the java client, therefore they are not technically bugs in minecraft... -A java developer [editline]14th June 2016[/editline]
Well shit, I saw it in the windows store for 10 bucks and jumped to a conclusion
guess you feel stupid now, and will give friendly MS a second chance? nahhhh [editline]14th June 2016[/editline]
Wow I hope they make it not terrible.
