A man wrongfully convicted of possessing ammunition after forensics staff mixed up his £3 keyring and a live bullet is suing the government. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-22815259
That should not be a crime.
Really? We sell bullet keyrings on mass at my old job.
As an American, the idea of someone being jailed for allegedly owning a bullet is a rather alien one. Even if it had been that he owned the bullet, I can't imagine anyone thinking that would in itself merit such a sentence. If it were to be several boxes of ammo it might feel different.

How do you get a keyring and live ammunition mixed up? You could at least open the fucking thing to check.
Is there anything you can actually do with 1 bullet?
I have the Max Payne 3 collectors edition and I got a bullet keyring with that... shit, don't think I should go out.
Is there anything you can actually do with 1 bullet?
Depends on the bullet.
His only crime is one against fashion.
He got a suspended sentence, he never did jail time wild title.
Really? We sell bullet keyrings on mass at my old job.
How about read the article.
Is there anything you can actually do with 1 bullet?
you could throw it at someone
I don't think that they thought it was live guys, it sounds like they got 2 pieces of evidence, his key ring and a live round, and wrongly attributed to him
Mr Smart's conviction was quashed in 2009 after the FSS, which was owned by the government, wrote to police admitting the wrong exhibit had been examined
But even taking empty casings, blanks or empty blanks off a range unless licensed is a civilian (and military if applicable) offence.
Is there anything you can actually do with 1 bullet?
You can give it to a child who will then lead you to Uncle Bourbon.
Home > Forum > Facepunch > Sensationalist Headlines
Hardly sensationalist considering you either do jail time or you dont.
gonna be like you assholes: 'britain.
Why was his house even being searched?
What if it was several boxes of keyrings? That would be rather suspicious
Really, how many keys does one person need to carry without switching key ring? I say if anyone carries more than five keys, they're most likely a criminal anyway. Law abiding citizens only need one for work, one for house, and one for car.
That should not be a crime.
it's not that why he's suing
gonna be like you assholes: 'britain.
What? This kind of shit happens in loads of countries, where the police fuck up with evidence.
If it even was real, it should just have been confiscated, It's just SUCH A MINOR THING. Here in sweden, illegally owning like one bullet and the police finds out, they will just take it and give you a warning, but going to jail? Geez, the british are just a tiny bith too harsh about this.
Is there anything you can actually do with 1 bullet?
I suppose if it was large enough you could grip it in your fist to make a punch hurt more
Meanwhile in Americaland, a package the UPS man dropped off at my door last week [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/mxNxOeM.jpg[/thumb]
I had a keyring with a bullet on it as a kid... Anyone with at least one working eye could see it wasn't a live round by, Oh I don't know, looking at it. Even if it was real, a 4 month sentence and almost 200 hours of community service? Jesus England, that's the kind of attitude that loses revolutionary wars

Geez, the british are just a tiny bith too harsh about this.
You can actually legally own a small amount of ammunition and it is completely legal. Though, its all pretty much up to the officer in person to make the call; The law is pretty stupid either way around, both in our case and in this case. I could understand if you're stockpiling ammo and have several thousands of high-calibre rounds stocked about, but one or a few bullets shouldn't even have to waste a officers time.
Is there anything you can actually do with 1 bullet?
Well, you can hold it up to somebody's head and set it off with a hammer and nail. Just as good as a gun, if you ask me.
Well, you can hold it up to somebody's head and set it off with a hammer and nail. Just as good as a gun, if you ask me.
Except it'll just blow up and send shrapnel everywhere.

Just as good as a gun, if you ask me.
The gasses dont get forced through a barrel, and there is nothing really around it, so you'll probably lose a finger or two as the casing explodes spectacularly and the guy next to you might go deaf on one ear and suffer some slight damage from shrapnel.
