Hey guys, I've been lurking here for many years, my account name was Zulthus... forgot all info it was so long ago heh. Not too long ago I started making videos on YouTube. I'm trying to get my channel off the ground, and could use some opinions on my content. I personally think I'm kind of bland but I'm trying to work on that... but I want to know what you think. I'm uploading some JC2 Multiplayer as I'm typing this.

Thanks!
For the most part, I enjoy your videos. Your audio leveling could use a bit of work though, I tend to watch videos at a relatively low volume, yet it was still pretty loud to watch some of your videos.
You also need to work on your voice a bit, it's a little reserved and unenthusiastic.
There's also quite a bit of dead-air when you're talking which is something I don't mind but I'm sure some people would.

Yeah I have trouble with the audio most of the time. It's hard for me to find a good balance of game/mic volume.
I totally know my voice is unenthusiastic... I'm good at entertaining IRL but there's something different about talking to my computer monitor :P I've got to work on that for sure...
Thanks for the feedback! =)
It's kind of plain, it's a little bit like talking to your friend while he plays a game you're not playing right now, if you've ever been in that situation
Immediately you need to grab the attention of the viewers, not tell us something we already know or don't really care about (don't take it personally, but I'm sure you also don't care about the fact I never play raider class, for example)
Perhaps try talking about recent changes in the game. I stopped playing T:A a long time ago, but when I did it changed a lot. I'm sure it still does, with each update. Talk about updates, future updates, big things that happen etc. It's tough, because you're the only one talking, but it's possible with some practice. Also try to keep it short, cut out the boring parts of the game in post editing

Yeah, I know what you mean.
Going to work on a strong intro to grab attention immediately, that's some good advice. And yes, I do seem to ramble a lot, most of the time I'm not sure what I should be talking about so I just spew random stuff that no one cares about. I'll try to avoid doing that from now on.
As for editing, I could try that. A montage of the more interesting parts of the video might be better than just recording for 20 minutes and posting sub par content. I'll try and put Sony Vegas to use.
Thanks!
No problem. Yeah it's hard not to ramble when you're talking to yourself, so if you find those parts then those would be the ones to remove
Your voice seems to monotone and boring, it doesn't really grab the viewers attention. I would suggest varying the tone of your speech as bit. You should also find something more to talk about than whats immediately happening, talk about patches and updates or just the strategies and tactics you enjoy using. I find that the best commentators seem to talk more than what is directly happening on screen, as we don't need someone telling us what we can see. Other than that, great work. Keep it up!
The only advice I can give is that you render your videos properly and use a good recorder so your videos doesn't lag.

What's wrong with the rendering? I use FRAPS, and they lag because I'm recording to the same hard drive I'm running the game from. I need to buy an external.

Well the black bars for example. You should try Dxtory with this codec.

An external isn't going to help you if you mean an external connected with USB.

The black bars on the sides I'm pretty sure is due to me recording at 16:10 aspect ratio... there really isn't anything I can do about that afaik. Does the codec fix that?

Oh okey. No, but you should try Dxtory and see if you can record smoother.

Yeah, I'll give it a go, thanks for the tip!
